My wife and I visited the Chop and Ale House at Champany and enjoyed rib eye steaks that were as good as we have ever had. They come with a helping of chips and side salad. You will need a big appetite to have a starter and also finish this.

1st visit to the Champany Inn and we're not disappointed. We were made to feel very welcome ! We dined in the chop and ale and we had fresh T bone steaks which were absolutely cooked to perfection and the side of chips were honestly amazing! My partner then enjoyed the waffle whilst I enjoyed the cheese cake. After our... More

A famous restaurant which is renowned for steak. Pricy, but worth it - the dining room is fantastic with candlelight, antique furniture and paintings - very atmospheric. Huge wine list which can be very expensive or not so - you can order house wines by the glass and get tap water if you want! Steaks are legendary in terms of... More

Visited the Chop and Ale house after an absence of a number of years, due to a previous bad experience. We should have stayed away. Having eaten in both the Restaurant, and the Chop and Ale House, I have a benchmark. The Chop and Ale is resting on its laurels and really needs a reality check. One of the few... More

I used to dine here many years ago and recently returned with a colleague for lunch a couple of weeks ago It was like stepping back in time. i don't think it has changed all that much in the bar / restaurant and as I recall the food was always outstanding and we were ready for a hearty lunch in... This is the best steak money can buy and the chips well they are a die for, from the moment you arrive you are greeted like a king, the staff are very well presented and are a credit to the owners, you can even visit the shop on the way out where they stock a great range of wines, spirits... More

This place is a little bit different and offers superbly crafted steak dining at its best. With an impressive wine cellar to boot. Other items are on the menu but they are basically making steak the main event. The restaurant has an old worldly charm with paintings of past gone nobility hanging around . Candle lights on the table add... More

I used to frequent the Champany a lot when I lived in the east so was looking forward to lunch. It was mid week and there was only one person serving. The cappuccino and flat white came out of a machine...? The flat white was a filter coffee served with cold milk...because the machine cannot make a flat white. The... More
