This is a little gem of a place. Came in for snacks, and was rewarded with lovely hot scones, cream and jam. Ooo the jam is lovely. Sat in the conservatory and looked out over the bay and watched the ferry plying over the waves. Pleasant staff, lovely decor, and clean toilets. Did not try anything else from the menu... More

We arrived at The Argyll for lunch after a day trip to Iona visiting the abbey. This was at 2pm. We were offered lunch of soup (2 choices) with a sandwich. A French family walked in after us, probably no more than 2 minutes later. They were refused a sandwich, and were offered only one choice of soup, as it... More

Dinner here was excellent with a very balanced wine list. The view of the bay and Mull is special. I ordered a featured turbot chowder, scallops starter, and a side of new potatoes. The scallops, which are easy to overcook, were perfectly done; the chowder was delightful, but, although well seasoned, the potatoes were a bit overcooked. Presentation of all... More

Our meals were quite good although my wife, who is not a big fan of seafood found the menu a little limited. But then again, it's an island... who would expect anything other than a menu weighted toward fish? Helpful and attentive staff. The primary place on the island to eat dinner if you're not staying at the St. Columba... More

Lovely atmosphere with helpful and friendly staff, we were dripping wet after walking around Iona island, to sit by the fire and have lunch was very comforting. Food was well prepared and tasty, good size portions we had a half and half option on the menu of soup of the day and a sandwich, which was just right along with... More

My wife and I recently had both lunch and dinner at the Argyll Hotel Restaurant. The service for both occasions was friendly and fast. The lunch menu offered familiar options however, the dinner menu (in my opinion) was quite limited and focused mainly on three dishes prepared mainly with vegetables with only alternative choice being either fish or lamb. I... More

My disappointment was due to the limited dinner menu, I found myself struggling to choose a main course. My choice also disappointed due to the very strong citrus flavour of the beans used as a bed on which the meat was placed; it was reminiscent of marmalade. Overall it felt as if the chefs were insisting on using strange combinations... More

After the extraordinary experience of visiting the Nunnery and Abbey on the Isle of Iona, one is left with a hunger from all of the walking and a need to bide one's time until the next ferry back to the Isle of Mull. The Argyll Hotel was recommended to us for a delicious and reasonably priced lunch, and the recommendation... More

I booked to eat here with three friends because the menu online showed that there were vegan options. I called and spoke to the staff to be sure that this was always the case. On arrival, there were no dishes on the menu that were vegan. One dish could be made vegan. It was called peas and carrots. As a... More

After reading all the glowing reviews we tried this out for lunch but discovered that rather than restaurant quality meals like advertised for dinner, lunch is definitely more casual cafe style. The menu was very small and came down to soup +/- sandwiches in various combinations. The chicken, ham, leek mayonnaise sandwich was really very ordinary. The honey roasted squash... More

Dear Seabird I am sorry that your expectations weren't met. Many people only have 2 hours ashore for their trip so a restaurant menu would not be suitable for our clientele at lunch time. More
