Not great quality food and place is always empty when you go in. Lacks atmosphere and spirit. Not overly impressed. Think it does better for takeaway meals and lunch buffets.

Bangladeshi food served Bangladeshi style with Bangladeshi courtesy. Food is freshly made, hot when served and stylish.

I recommended the al bahar to my fiance,as he hadn't tried a lot of Indian dishes. we use the takeaway service, and was thoroughly unimpressed. The chicken pakora had been put into a thin paper bag soaked in moisture, and was freezing cold, tucked underneath the rest of the order. My partner had the chicken Korma ,which would have been tasty if... More

You will not find any in the Al Bahar restaurant in Elgin, the first alarm bells start to ring as you come in, the room temperature is colder than outside, the staff cooler still (frosty) Lacklustre in every aspect. Then the food arrived (the trend did not change) Although it was warm the 2 chicken dishes we ordered were unpleasant... More

I have to admit that I didn't expect the food to be that great. The staff was extremely friendly and the food heavenly while really affordable. I recommend it to any Indian cuisine lover, you won't be disappointed!

We decided to try the 3 course lunch menu... Wish we hadn't bothered. Upon entering the restaurant was cold and not busy. The staff were not exactly welcoming and when we asked to move seats he very reluctantly moved us.... Even though there were 2 other couples only so there was a plethora of seats! The food was awful- we... More

When in Elgin I always come here. It was a cold, wet January night and I ended up being the only person there, but is not a reflection on the food which I find very good. Very nice gentleman who seems to have been there for ever. Will be back.

*AVOID AT ALL COSTS* We arrived at 6.45pm, didn't get asked for drinks until just after seven, even then we waited a further 15/20 minutes for them. Our food order wasn't taken until another 10 minutes after that. We then waited an hour for our starter to arrive. We then had the plates left with us for a good 20... More

I've visited this restaurant several times with family and my other half and have always been offended by the staff. I believe the owners usually serve us and they have usually been in a terrible mood and took it out on the customer. If you're looking for a family restaurant I wouldn't recommend it.
