Been coming here for years and the food is always good, if a little overpriced. Nice, relaxing, quaint pub setting and lovely in the winter when the fire is lit. Only criticism is that service always seems quite slow, but I think probably because food is cooked fresh.

We were staying at a nearby B & B and had two evening meals at the Cawdor Tavern. The dining area is charmingly decorated. If you wish you can have a flight of ales, which were much enjoyed by one of our group. The chef creates very good meals using local ingredients. During our time in Scotland, we often ordered... The castle turned out to be closed for the season so we took solace at this quaint tavern. The smoke fish plate as great; loved the salmon. The cheese plate was good as well. We also tried their prize haggis; pretty good actually. This would be a great place to warm up or relax after a hard tour of the... More

Had lunch at the Tavern this week. Not the first time and as always the food was excellent and the service friendly and welcoming. I would recommend.

I cannot praise the Cawdor Tavern enough. During a recent holiday with family we visited the tavern on a Friday night, having very much enjoyed dinner there on a previous visit a couple of years ago, to find it full to the gunwales with members of the local farming community there for their annual dinner. Given it was packed and... More

Though the Cawdor looked a little pricey we decided as our holiday was coming to an end we'd go for it. The restaurant wasn't busy and there seemed to be plenty of waitresses ambling around. We ordered drinks, two of which we asked for no ice, both came WITH ice. Out of the four meals only two were acceptable. The... More

Really friendly pub and restaurant. Dogs are very welcome in the bar and the food is tasty. A good selection of beers all served with a lovely smile. Had Sunday lunch there a week ago and went back again for lunch after a long walk through the countryside along the riverside walk from Nairn to Cawdor.

Thank Dominic T
