Stopped in for a pint around lunchtime. Was very quiet as it was winter when we visited. The young barman was not overly charming but efficient enough. The ambience was peaceful. Beer good. A little underwhelmed overall.

Family evening meal for 4 - including two elderly people. Staff could not have been more helpful re their specific needs and wishes re portion size, likes and dislikes. Food very good and freshly cooked and plenty of variety. Owner of the Tavern has a connection with the Orkney Brewery so lots of that brewery's products for sale, which was... More

Dined here on recommendation but in all honesty it was average at best. Spacious place and well signed Food-main course £12.95 for fish and chips served with peas and tartare sauce. No better than average although the home made sauce was delicious. The other meal taken was the three sausage starter £5.50 with chips costing £4.25-again an average dish. Food-dessert... More

My wife and I were invited to a Sunday lunch at the tavern and the food, atmosphere and service were excellent. This was our first experience of the Tavern and we will definitely be back. The food was first class and I can personally recommend the trio of puddings, the roast beef and the pavlova. A delightful place to eat,... More

Dropped in for lunch last week. Father-in law chose battered haddock from regular menu whereas I plumped for a Camembert cheese and wild mushroom tart from the Daily Specials. Fish portion was normal and filling. However the tart along with dauphinoise potatoes was a very small plateful and didn't merit being classed nor charged as a main course. I left... More

Visited here for lunch today, food was fantastic, very good service and waiting time between courses just right. Only point I would make would be it would have been good to have the open fire going, or at least the radiators on. Will definitely be back again soon.

Visited here with my father today. Very warm and friendly atmosphere with excellent staff. The male waiter we had was so informative of the menu and made us feel very welcome as did the lady at the bar who took us our bill. She gave us a lovely seat by the fire which was most welcome. This is a very... More
