At the start of our cycle trip across the highlands we went to the castle tavern for an evening meal. The restaurant part and the pub were both busy and it is worth booking if you want a table. Our starter of scallops and black pudding was simple lovely and as i was in a Scottish mood my main meal... More

We are frequent visitors to the Castle Tavern, and with good reason. The staff are always friendly, the selection of ales is extensive, and the food is consistently excellent. It's the perfect place to spend a lazy summer's day, and we really can't recommend it highly enough.

Stopped in with a group of six for before dinner pints, drams and then dinner. Place does have a pretty good feel to it and the wait staff was quite friendly. The single malt listing is fairly diverse and broken out by flavor "category" which was helpful for us as we are somewhat new to Scotch whisky experience. Dinner was... More

I've eaten a lot of places in Inverness, and this has been one of my favorites. They've got a 2 for 1 lunch deal on select menu items, and the portions were huge!! I had awesome sweet potato fries and a baked brie tart. The pub is small and traditional with a really cute outdoor seating section that looks right... More

First off, I can't comment on the food too much here. We had the appetizer basket to snack on with our pints, the chicken wings were amazing. The rest was adequate fried food that went down well with the beer. The real reason for the post is to give credit as the best outdoor seating for any pub or restaurant... More

Camra winner 2010. Great ales. The food looked really good, although I didn't eat. Location with great views and very friendly staff. Television had the news on, which in some places can be a sign of not giving a monkey's shuffle, but here it just seemed like a really civilised and sociable thing to have on. Like it a lot.

Place with lots of character. Food was ok. Fish and chips was a bit soggy but edible. Dessert was awesome!!

Indifferent service, great location, the bad end of pub food but well kept local beers. A mixed bag but a bit disappointing given other reviews.

We ate dinner upstairs with our teenage sons and my Mum. Tasty food (haggis!) and friendly staff. A wide variety of beers was available.

Called in for a drink as we had already booked dinner elsewhere. Loved this place at first sight. Small, loads of buzzy atmosphere. Appeared very popular with diners and drinkers alike. Great pub
