After reading some of the reviews on TripAdvisor, we thought we'd give The Winking Owl a try when we visited Aviemore for the day. Little did we know that Aviemore was gearing up for "Thunder in the Glen" and was filled with Harley Davidson enthusiasts and motorbikes. The car park for the Winking Owl itself was handed over to the... More

We came on a beautiful day in the afternoon without reservation and it was very busy, so we had to wait to get a table. Since the sun was shining it was no problem to relax outside in the sun with a cold beer, and 30 minutes to wait is no problem. Found the service very good and friendly. Food... More

Good quality pub grub with a Scottish twist. The haggis pakora starter was delicious, as were the scallops. Excellent craft beers from the local brewery on tap. Recommended

As a vegetarian this was one of the few places with excellent food and beer! As a family of five we all really enjoyed the meals here and came again. But the place is popular and you should reserve or come with some time, which you can easily kill at the bar enjoying the excellent beers.

Stopped here for a late supper and from the moment we stepped into the restaurant we received a warm welcome despite the restaurant being busy with all hands on deck. After a short wait we were shown to our table by our waitress Charlie, who took our drinks and food order double quick. The restaurant has a mix of normal... More

The sun may not always shine in aviemore but when it does it is nice to sit outside in summertime. Particularly important if you have a couple of dogs in tow and don't want to leave them in the car. The outside menu shrinks to very basic snacks and burgers due to health and safety. Suspect this is because food... More

Great food and a lovely atmosphere. My mum had the burger which was homemade and came with fab onion rings and lovely chunky chips. As a veggie I'm normally sick of risotto but this one sounded good and it was! Definitely book ahead as we were lucky to get a table just before 9 on a Thursday night.

We visited the winking owl without booking and were very happy with the food and service. It was reasonably priced and great food. Staff were very attentive and everyone enjoyed the experience. I particularly enjoyed the venison which was superb. Would recommend to all

We have been to the cairngorm before on previous trips to aviemore and always enjoyed it. We went on Saturday night with friens who had never been and altough it was very busy didn't have to wait long to get a table. The staff are always very pleasant and efficient. The meal was excellent and couldn't be faulted. Our friends... More
