I went to the Chip for Sunday Lunch with my Wife and her Sister. I've been before and loved it, and this time was no different. We had two courses each. I had Tomato, Lentil and Garlic Soup, which was very nice, but would have benefited from being served warmer than it was. I then had the Roast Beef with... More

For my birthday, my daughter treated us to dinner at this wonderful restaurant. Everything about it was perfect. She had booked early to get a table in the central area which I really recommend as you are eating amongst all the plants and greenery and have great views of the whole restaurant. We had a specially printed birthday menu to... More

My wife and I wanted to try the famous Scottish haggis and we couldn't have chosen a better place to do it! We visited the beautiful building where Ubiquitous Chip is, in a quite charming street, and decided to stay on the second floor, the brasserie, where we ordered both the vegetarian and the traditional haggis, along with a goat... Lunch we really wanted this to be good, and it is a wonderful location. Fish (Hake) was oily and all the portions were small. Don`t buy into the quality argument, it was average, pretentious and ever so disappointing. Left unfulfilled.

What a magical place!!! I always have a sense of belonging whenever I go here. Set in the heart of the West End almost hidden up Ashton Lane, this place from the outside definitely hides the amazing interior. Once a stable many years before, this restaurant has hung on to many charms of the Victorian era. The food is very... More

For a post Xmas shopping trip and late lunch in the West End, the Chip beckoned. We were not disappointed. Good selection of gins with our preferred tonic on offer and a lunch menu which includes light, tasty open sandwiches. Just what we needed. The service and food quality are terrific and the atmosphere as usual is great. Lingering over... More

First time here, but it won't be my last. Relaxed, convivial atmosphere, very friendly and attentive wait staff. Food a wee bit pricey, but worth it. Lovely setting, no matter where you sit, and the fish tank and attendant greenery added to that. The smooth, mellow jazz provided by the quartet was a lovely bonus. We could stay as long... More

Definitely one of the most scrumptious, flavorful, tender steaks I ever had in my entire life; worth going just for that alone! Very cool decor, and mostly superb service. However, the house-brewed beer was incredibly disappointing (sad!) despite a hearty recommendation from our server. (I wonder if the restaurant manager has tasted it himself.) No parking available so take a... More
