Visited for takeaway coffee and was good coffee. The minimum card spend at the time was £10 which is rather high. Also the price of pasta we paid was £4.20. Not tried the food but worth a visit to get a coffee during these lockdown times.

lovely experience

I came here with a friend to have some lunch and had a lovely time. its true that it is a slightly busier place so you may need to wait a while for your order however it is so worth it! We had soups and sandwiches and everything tasted so fresh. The bread was absolutely gorgeous, we were both so surprised by the quality of the ingredients. Would recommend to anyone :)

Quirky coffee shop

Came across this place looking for somewhere for lunch today. Busy wee place, quirky decor. My wife and I both had cauliflower and onion soup + chicken salad sandwich on nice sourdough bread. The cakes looked lovely but couldn't manage one. Recommend it.

Coffee was very bland

Visited Sonny and Vito's when I was going out for exercise during the lockdown. It was pretty much the only cafe open for business on GWR. The cafe was practicing social distancing so there was a small queue when I arrived. The cafe is part cafe and part deli shop, although I didn’t need to stock up on food, so I only used the cafe. There’s a reasonable selection of desserts on display despite the lockdown, so I also got 2 pieces of cannoli, one vanilla and one chocolate, along with the latte. The cannoli were too sweet for my tastes. The latte tastes so bland, I could barely taste the coffee or much of the milk for that matter. I might also have made a mistake in eating the cannoli first.

Was heading for Eusebi’s but saw this cafe and popped in here instead. We ordered 2 coffees and 2 scrambled eggs on toast; the coffees came soon but there was a long wait for the eggs by which time we needed to order 2 more coffees. The eggs were bland and there was only 1 slice of toast. Total bill £20! Grossly overpriced.

Visited recently and certainly won’t be back. Service was deplorable. Waited 15 minutes for a cappuccino. Soup & sandwich tasted fine but the whole experience was tainted by the owners snobby attitude. Obvious to me that there was favoured clientele you got preferential service over a first timer like me. Only went as Eusebi’s was closed (Eusebi’s is infinitely a far more professional business). Would not recommend!

Poor service, bland coffee

Nice looking place and seat in sun. Bakewell tart also very good, but unfortunately coffee had very little taste and service by one lady was really poor. Having made mistakes with both coffees, we were told we should have ordered at the table ie it was all our fault. No apology just arrogance unfortunately. We got there eventually but just unpleasant.

Shame about the terrible service

This deli has lots of potential, it was just a shame that not one member of staff was polite. All were rude, dismissive and ignorant. While standing at the counter I was blatently ignored; one member of staff barged past me instead of saying excuse me, and just general manners from all staff were rude.

Owner badmouths staff and is unhygienic

The last two times I have visited this cafe have probably been the worst customer service I’ve ever received. The staff do not go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I heard who I assume is the owner, talking badly of his own staff- which was so loud that everyone in the cafe could hear… As well as this, I noticed the owner feeds dogs biscuits which is nice… however does not wash his hands after? I have seen another review about this and it is completely disgusting. I wouldn’t eat here unless you don’t mind dog hairs being in your cake.. To say the staff need a bit of a wake up call in customer service and hygiene is an understatement😂 it’s a shame as it has potential! I would recommend going to the Broken Clock nearby instead of this place which actually does nice coffee.

Rude staff and set your timer !

Food was good, however we were in 45 minutes and a staff member asked us to leave as she needed the table. We had literally just finished our food 5 minutes earlier and were chatting and letting the food digest. Staff removing finished plates of diners when other member of party is still eating. Extremely rude. Staff should wait until all members are finished eating before removing plates, this is basic etiquette. You are supposed to come out of a place feeling better than you went into it. Suggestion would be if you do go here for food then set your timer!

Unwelcoming Atmosphere

I recently visited Sonny & Vito's Deli Cafe and had a disappointing experience. I overheard staff making disparaging remarks about my party. It was disheartening to hear such unprofessional behaviour, which completely tarnished the atmosphere of the place. The lack of respect and courtesy demonstrated by the staff overshadowed any positive aspects of the establishment. I would not recommend Sonny & Vito's Deli Cafe to anyone seeking a pleasant and welcoming environment.

Rude & Ignorant Owner

Have visited this place a number of times and each time the owner comes across as unnecessarily stressed, loud and ignorant. I was being served by a young waitress today & he overheard my order & muttered something under his breath to her making her giggle - if you don't like what you then why not try something else. Customer service is not his speciality. I won't be back!

Curious place and odd experience.

Curious place. Take away food can only be served cold. As an expectation they were going to heat up a sausage roll for me; although it was going to take 10 minutes I was denied a seat to sit outside. The food on display can only be served to sit in at certain times. There is no sit in menu on display. Went to a patisserie a stone’s throw away who were happy to sell their food and put an extra seat outside. Odd experience!

Lovely setting and nice ambience but food was pretty average...cauliflower soup was thick and tasty but served lukewarm. 2 sandwiches both missing key ingredients....one didn't have any cheese in it, and the other absent of avocado. Slightly concerned that waitress fed a dog and did not then wash her hands. Wee things make a big difference. Won't be back....far better to be had in same area.

Poor service and doubtful attitude to covid mitigations

I've been here a couple of times but won't be back! The last time I was here, the coffee was fairly insipid, so this time I chose Breakfast Tea (Pukka). Despite leaving it to brew for about five minutes, it was fairly tasteless. I was more worried about the unmasked individual chatting loudly to customers at fairly close quarters. Covid mitigations still have mandatory mask wearing for staff in customer-facing cafes and bars. He also petted customers' dogs and continued serving without any visible washing of hands; he even fed two dogs some treats and went back behind the counter to make some coffee or tea, again without any visible handwashing taking place. This is simply not good enough and not something I want to repeat.
