Lunch with girlfriends

Very busy on Saturdays - you need to book at weekends, or wait. Cullen Skink got the thumbs up, Welsh rarebit less impressive. Very thick bread, very thin topping: I'd rather have one good slice than two uninteresting ones. Very, very noisy.

We were given a voucher for this restaurant as an xmas present and finally used it last Friday evening and what an experience we were in for. From the moment we entered the restaurant, we were made welcome by the friendly staff and we felt immediately at ease. The atmosphere is friendly, informal and relaxed and the menu is to... More

Went in for early evening dinner having perused what looked to be interesting menu. Place busy even at just after five. Starter came very quickly but rather a delay to main course. Excellent sea bass and white chocolate parfait to follow. Better selection of wines by the glass than usual and noticed an Austrian white which looked interesting - waitress... More

My recent lunch time visit to Epicures had the same result as all previous visits - my clothes and hair smelled of food for the rest of the day and had to be washed that evening. It surprises me that the owners have not sorted this problem. When you walk past Epicures you can smell cooking smells on the street... More

Food in Epicures was excellent aswell as the drink. What I will say on a negative point of view was asking staff for an order as I waited half an hour before a member of staff came over as it was very busy that night but were really friendly at the end of the day.

I came in - nobody spoke to me. I sat for 10 minutes waiting for someone to approach me, I then went to the bar and asked if you have to order at the bar, they said 'you can'. I asked a lady for the menu, she pointed at somebody else who could get me a menu. Terrible service -... More

I've been to Epicures on many occasions and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Today I ordered a Croc Mesuire. It turned out to be a bit skimpy on the ham and cheese. At £7:50 I thought it should be a lot more. I mentioned it to the staff and their reaction was first class. It was replaced with... More

We visited Epicures as they opened one morning, and despite being the only customers, they managed to get half our breakfast order (two identical dishes) wrong. To be fair to the staff, they were very apologetic and it only took five minutes to replace the incorrect dish. We were also given free soft drinks by way of apology, and the... More

On the last two visits I was kept waiting for a long time at the 'Please wait to allow us to seat you' sign. On one of these occasions I was undoubtedly put in an area out of the way because I was on my own. Service was not great either.

The food here was amazing and the atmosphere is really nice. One of our party had previously sworn off the place after a bad experience but was ready to forgive them! Prices are a little high by Glasgow standards, but the food was just brilliant - several of us had the fish, which tasted very fresh. Would definitely come here... More
