Local cafe of mine for years. I pop in occasionally for food. I like getting a recommendation and is usually sound advice . Any seafood pasta option with crusty bread to soak up the sauce would be my choice .

My granddaughter is a regular here and convinced me to try it. Guess who paid the bill! While there is not too much seating it does have a great cafe atmosphere. The food is excellent and freshly prepared so beware if you are in a desperate hurry. The staff are very friendly, Italian owners and a mix of Italian and... More

Came here for Sunday morning breakfast before travelling back to Newcastle and wished I could have brought this place back with me. I had the most delicious black pudding bacon and French toast I've ever had. Wonderful warm friendly atmosphere, I will most definitely be back !

Myself and two friends stumbled upon this culinary gem on a work-day trip from London. The Chef - a native Italian now plying his trade in fortunate Glasgow - prepared an "off-menu" order of Pasta Arrabiata for us, cooked to absolute perfection, and punching well above the weight suggested by the first-look casual "cafe appearance"; for this is real cooking.... The food, atmosphere, coffee and staff are all amazing. It is often very busy and if you are looking for somewhere quiet this is not always the place. However, all of the above make up for it. If I go to Cafe heaven in the next life, The North Star is it.

I've been to North Star a few times, to meet friends. I went there solo for the first time today and found the atmosphere a bit hectic. I felt rushed and hassled when the waitress kept asking me to decide on what to eat, rather than offering to bring me my tea first. The uneven seating meant that the person... More

Had been meaning to get to this highly recommended eatery for quite a while and so was delighted to get there for a meal a couple of weeks ago. Food did not disappoint. Delicious red pepper soup with a goats cheese ciabatta - really hearty and filling. My son had the slow cooked mild chorizo and chickpea stew served with... More

Popped in for a coffee with a friend after work, and treated myself to a slice of carrot cake. So glad I did! Quite simply the best carrot cake I've ever had. After speaking to the lovely owners, I learned that all of their cakes are home made. A warm and inviting cafe with unique decor and friendly staff. Can't... More

Having lived around the area for a few years, I decided a while ago to check out North Star, and I've not stopped going back since! Excellent for breakfast, lunch, or even just a Coffee, this little cafe is everything you'd ever want. The service is always cheery, the food always tastes great, and the coffee is exactly what you... More
