We popped in here for lunch. It was busy even tho' this was mid week. I can see that parking nearby might be a problem but that's not the restaurant's problem. It's a general malaise in all city restaurants. Food and ambience are top notch bistro. Would give full marks but the staff to customer ratio is too low resulting... More

I have recently moved to Naseby avenue which is right around the corner from wee lochan. I have tried many times to get a table here since my move but it has always been fully booked! As my mum was visiting me last night I had booked in advance, and we were so excited to finally be eating at my... More

A wonderful lunch at the wee lochan. The food was fantastic and very tasty, the service was very good and the waitresses were very nice. The only wee problem was the toilet was a little out of date but apart from that everything was great

Went for lunch with a friend and we were surprised at the restaurant being so busy. However after enjoying such a wonderful lunch, the understood why. My friend had perfectly cooked black pudding, poached egg and crispy bacon to start and I had Cullen skink. Main meal was hake and I had stuffed chicken. Delicious. Price was reasonable for the... This restaurant is not big, nor by the high streets. But small, family owned with a personal touch. Lovely staff and a kitchen second to none. In other words - just right! We where there the 4 of us and had a variety of starters and main courses. All fish and it was delicate, tasteful and very nice indeed. But... More

My first time here for a splendid seafood lunch of Cullen skink then smoked haddock, with mash and a perfect poached egg, whilst my pal had the smoked salmon starter followed by a succulent chicken dish. Forgot to check out the a la carte for evening but if these are their standards for lunch then I'm sure we'd nor be disappointed. Worth... More

I was getting Fed up with going for lunch and c omming away unplussed. The Wee Lochan is a change from the norm. We were lucky getting a table even on a weekday but just going in the door gave a very good first impression. Good waiting staff is so important and its there. The food was excellent. Nice choices... This restaurant always looks busy and I wasn't surprised. Really enjoyed dinner here on a busy Friday evening. My Spanish white onion soup to start was delicious and my friend was happy with her goats cheese mousse. For mains we had the hake in a mild peppery sauce and the sea bass with scallops. All lovely. Were too full for... More

This is a very small but excellent restaurant. You could easily overlook it, however that would be a big mistake!! I went for the Sunday lunch £16.99 for 2 courses or £19.99 for 3. Service is quick and friendly, excellent atmosphere. The food is simply fantastic. I would definitely recommend it. I had black pudding to start, sea bass and... More

We visited for lunch recently and this is the third visit in 8 months. the standard on all three occasions was excellent. We ate from the fixed lunch menu which had a good choice of options including smoked haddock with peached egg and pork fillet wrapped in pancetta. both were delicious.
