Our first visit here. Excellent food, service and extremely polite staff who have obviously been trained to a very high standard. A special mention for a lovely member of staff (Italian we think) who has a lovely sense of humour and very good customer rapport. Would definitely recommend this place and we will certainly be visiting again.

Dined today with friends. Stunningly presented dishes which were all extremely delicious. Friendly and efficient service with a warm welcome. We are regulars and this lovely restaurant just gets better and better every time we dine. Second Michelin Star due soon I'm sure. Thanks to all for a fab afternoon.

We have been before a couple of years ago and it was good. I think they had a bad night on Saturday which was a very busy day. Waited 15 mins for our aperitif. Menu is straightforward and varied and well presented. Food was disappointing however. Starters were good, crispy langoustine and a lobster dish, but tiny. 2 small langustine for over... More

From the moment we arrived to a friendly and informative welcome,we enjoyed a flawless dinner and overnight stay. Our dinner was excellent with first class ingredients, beautifully prepared and presented. The sommelier insisted on replacing free of charge a large gin which we had accidentally spilled, despite our pointing out it was our fault.Service was unhurried and delivered by plentiful members of... I've been reading and hearing good things about the Peat in since the 80's so an opportunity to go there for my birthday was a really special treat. And it didn't disappoint. I opted for the tasting menu which could only be described as sublime. After starting with the smoked beef Tartare, we had sublime Warm Cured Salmon, followed by... More

From the moment you arrive at the Peat Inn you are greeted by welcoming and friendly staff and this experience continues until the moment you leave. There is a choice of menus: Chef's Special, A la Carte and a daily Lunch Menu. All are modest in choice but this is understandable when you see the quality and attention to detail... More

My husband and I are regulars and have always found the food to be appealing. However on the last two occasions the portion control has been a bit on the lean side, especially 13/8/16. We had a family get together and whilst the various titbits and starter were good the main course was served with one small potato halved. The... More

A positive experience at this restaurant where there is a gastronomic menu for UK Pounds 70.00 and a 3 course set menu for UK Pounds 50.00 as well as an a la carte menu. The food is well presented and well prepared although the portions are not over generous. Pricing is fair based on the quality of the food with... More

We ordered the set lunch menu. It looked a bargain at £22 for three courses. The food was certainly good though we were all a little surprised at the small size of the portions, particularly the main course . It was served with one very small baby potato, halved, and a few slivers of cauliflower, albeit very attractively coloured and... More

Description
The Peat Inn is owned by award winning Chef and columnist Geoffrey Smeddle and his wife Katherine. With Geoffrey at the heart of the kitchen and Katherine's warmth and care filling the restaurant, they have been successful in building on the very fine reputation of one of Scotland's most cherished destinations.
The Inn has existed on this spot since the 1700s. Today, the Michelin starred restaurant with rooms continues to welcome guests who appreciate the special and very personal experience which is the hallmark of The Peat Inn.
Three small dining rooms make up the restaurant, providing an intimate setting for lunch or dinner. Each room is also available for private parties if required. The reception lounge with its deep sofas and open log fire, creates an atmosphere which is elegant and refined and made all the more enjoyable by the friendly and attentive service.
A few steps from the restaurant is The Residence where eight individually designed luxury suites offer the opportunity for a rather special night away, where the pleasures of the table spill over into a charming over-night setting.
From your aperitif upon arrival to coffee and a liqueur before you have to depart, we are sure you will enjoy every moment of the wonderful cuisine and hospitality at The Peat Inn.
