Lovely setting. Food took an age even though we only had starters. Seemed to be more managers than waiting staff - managers seemed to be doing not a lot! Anyway food was fine but again, service seemed to miss that personal touch and attention to...detail… training of students is a must!!! Doesn’t seem to happen well enough here…More

On booking we were told that we couldn't book for 7pm but that 6.45pm was acceptable. No problem. It is good that a restaurant is busy. We arrived at 6.40. On ordering our starter arrived after a long wait. I clocked the mains arriving at...8.10pm! The starter I had was haggis bon bons, which were lukewarm. Being hungry I ate them anyway. My wife and I both ordered venison pie. It was a venison stew in a metal pan, with a spoonful of mashed potato dropped on the top, and a small amount of red cabbage pickle on the side. This was priced at £18. We complained that this could not in any way be considered a pie - where was the crust! To be fair the manager came over and apologised and made a reduction on the bill. But this was way below the standard of what we have come to expect from this restaurant. We have been many times and have always been impressed. Very disappointing, as we hoped to redeem a birthday gift voucher from my daughter.More

We had a great meal here for lunch when visiting St Andrews. Food was delicious ( we had the steak and wine to share). Out server Vannessa was also amazing and was really friendly and helpful.More

On first sight, this restaurant is lovely. A nice feel to the place, lovely large “alcoves” for private parties. It just looks great. And a great choice of food. However, that’s where it ends! When we arrived there was only 2 tables filled so it...was very quiet, but that was fine. We ordered lunch, cheddar and kimchi toastie for myself and the club toastie for my husband. 50 minutes later we were still waiting. When I asked why it was taking so long, for a toastie, the member of staff (male) went to the pass to ask the chefs, I think there were 3 behind the counter. We were then told there had been a mix up, and “sorry”. When our meal eventually arrived, the bread was warm but not toasted. It was not well served either. Just very unappetising. When the young waitress asked how we were enjoying our meal I said, 50 minutes wait for a toasty and a club was really bad and the state of the cheese toastie was very disappointing. However, they did the right thing and cancelled our bill. Front of house staff were great, very apologetic. But really, the kitchen let themselves down today. Would I go back? I’m not sure to be honest.More

Had a return visit while in the area, and reminded why we enjoyed it in the past. Really lovely inside - bright, spacious, airy and modern. Quite like the theme, and that the restaurant is set slightly back from the entrance. Great menu with a...mix of classic choices and some more unique ones. The food is all fresh, delicious and well presented. Great place for a quality 3 course meal. Staff all lovely - pleasant, attentive and chatty. Grace especially was a real credit to Forgans. Good value for the quality of food and service. Hope to be back again in the future!More
