No seats inside fair enough so we settled for the tent on the road .I had the pie..I say pie it was the usual easy way out soup with a lid served with 7 chips and a few cubes of flavourless veg class...however the lobster...served with all the finesse of a grimsby docker beat the pie hands down with you left guessing how to eat it.Still it wasnt big enough to worry about that much if it was 3 bite at best. When asked how I found the lobster?well I just pick up a chip and there it was.Needless to say it's a no from meMore

The food was average, nothing too special, therefore I don't really understand why the prices were so high. The atmosphere was nice, the bathroom was cool too, but the seafood was definitely too normal. It's not worthy, just very expensive.

Food delicious but under no circumstances accept a booking in their marquee! Having arrived and checked in the main restaurant about our booking which was verified for 3 people outside in the marquee. When I checked in at the marquee I was informed that there...was no table for us and we would need to sit outside in the street. After refusing to accept this another table offered the table they had reserved for their party who hadn’t arrived and another table which were only in for drinks said they were leaving. At no point did the member of staff at Forgan’s offer to resolve the issue instead asked when did we book which made me feel I had to explain our booking when quite clearly they had a booking for us! Our meal was lovely but somewhat spoiled with the lack of service and being surrounded by a party of drunken people who were getting chips from elsewhere. So what is the message that Forgan’s is saying drunken people ordering food from a local chippy is more acceptable than people coming for dinner? If this is the case then perhaps they should think about informing people who are looking for food that the external marquee is drinks only! Don’t be greedy and allow families to be disappointed especially when on holiday in St Andrew’s. We were so excited about this booking to be treated so poorly as I say food was amazing pity the experience let it done!More

Visited Forgans St Andrews this evening with my wife .Fantastic restaurant ,good disabled access and facilities with a great and imaginative menu including, importantly for us ,a number of super vegan options across all the courses. We were really impressed with this restaurant and the fantastic...food ,wine and service .Great if you’re a vegan with interesting options ,even if your not vegan ,food was popular and restaurant busy.Stella our server was extremely helpful and provided good advice as she is also vegan.Service was attentive , food was great value for money .Thanks for adding to a great dining experience with your excellent service Stella.More

The restaurant looks lovely and quirky. Sadly, the food did not match the decor. We were served by Caroline who was very helpful and apologised when the children’s food did not arrive earlier than the adult’s. The lobster was luke warm at best and when...it says “with garlic butter” I naively thought it would be cooked with the butter melted over the lobster. It wasn’t. Don’t order it! It is served with a gravy boat full of cold garlic butter. The gravy boat had a big wedge of unmelted butter floating in it as though it had just come out the fridge. The lobster Mac n Cheese was described as “meh” and “overpriced”. The kids meals were, however, good. Being typically British (and with kids in tow) we didn’t create a fuss when we should’ve. It’s a shame we had been looking forward to trying Forgans but on this showing we will not return.More

Hubby and I went for a meal and Stella … who is a fellow vegan… helped us choose our meal. A few vegan options and the cauliflower and pear was fabulous! Thanks so much Stella for your patience and kindness. They’re lucky to have you!!

Had the black pudding (with cold boiled egg) for starter and a disappointedly thin sauced pie for main course. Meal for four people was expensive and despite the service being friendly, we spent a long time waiting between courses. Sadly won't be back.

This was our second visit but the first with our friends l wish establishments that want to charge top dollar trained there staff it took 3 visits to our table before we received the correct wine order the starter was okay Camembert to share we...all decided to go for the chateaubriand for 4 X2 orders la medium rare portion and a medium portion unfortunately the chef doesn’t know the difference we got a well done steak portions and my friends got medium and these portions were the smallest chateaubriand l have ever seen if you want to charge fine dining prices then deliver better quality produce and cooking skills. The manager tried her best to recover our evening but we shall never return this restaurant is an upmarket Brewers Fare 1 out of 10.More

We’ve always had decent quality here but last night was disaster. Starters both uncooked so we complained and asked them to make sure main course sorted. Lobster good but chateau Briand steak uneatable. To be fair they knocked cost of food off but manager clearly...had not fed back our concerns to chef.More

Sorry, I meant that it was possible without the full 3 course meal. We will definitely be buying drinks etc when we are there.
