We had booked a table at The Jolly Botanist 2 doors down and were given a dreadful table and no help to move so we left and went here. The ambiance was perfect, the food delicious and the service excellent. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. The evening was wonderful.

Wide selection of dishes including vegetarian. Many I have never seen before including mussels. I chose vegetarian options including stuffed mushrooms for a starter, followed by a vegetable biryani. Both were delicious and the presentation was beautiful. I also tasted my friends' meat and/or fish based dishes and all were of high quality and well prepared. Couldn't afford to eat... More

First visit here and hopefully not my last. The food was excellent, portion sizes good and prices reasonable. I had the monkfish to start which was very tasty followed by chicken jalfrezi, amazing flavour and good portion. Man was also perfect. Would have been 5 but waiters pushed me out the way to collect plates, twice.

I went to The Mumbai Mansion as a belated Christmas Party last week. I was part of a party of 7 people and we all had the Tasting Menu. The service was great, the waiters polite and attentive without crowding us. The food tasted fantastic! Every course was presented beautifully and there was more than enough to eat. I could... More

Visited here yesterday on the way to one of my other favourites in Edinburgh. The menu was interesting so thought I would try it. The restaurant is large and it was early evening so the atmosphere was a bit flat but that was more than made up for by the food. The guinea fowl starter was superb. Possibly the best... More

Was gifted a Voucher to try this place and went midweek early dinner. Waiter advised me of what I was entitled to with the voucher and the supplements that would apply should we wish to try any other dishes, which we did. All of the dishes were well presented and piping hot. Restaurant is large and spacious and prices are... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
