We had dinner at Wedgwood last weekend while on a trip to Edinburgh. We really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The service was very good. The meal was well paced and the staff were friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. We had the Scottish tasting menu and highly recommend it. We will be back.

Passed by on a rainy Scottish night and even though it looked like high standard place we tempted to step in. We're welcome with a smile, as we were long awaited booked party (we were not). All our dishes came neatly presented, very original in their cooling, but, most importantly, very very tasty. Actually excellent. The only one thing that... More

Visited here on the evening of the 22nd July as part of a surprise weekend away from my boyfriend for my 30th Birthday. The restaurant was full so pre booking is a must! The staff were extremely attentive and polite, service was very quick we never had to wait long between courses. The food was amazing, each dish perfectly cooked... More

We made last-minute reservations by eating early and we were so glad we did. My wife and I had exceptional meals and friendly, attentive service. The fixed price (50 pounds per person) Scottish tastings was more food than we wanted, so we selected some of the same dishes a la carte. The appetizer of scallops with cauliflower korma was a... The staff were very welcoming and the menu was interesting. Fantastic bread and rosemary oil, which was absolutely delicious and the meal itself was lovely. The reason I'm taking giving 4 stars and not 5 is, that I asked for a hot water to end the meal with and it was put on the bill as a tea, so was... More

The food served in this restaurant for our lunch was very high quality yet very reasonably priced. Service was bright and friendly as well. I will definitely go back next time I am in Edinburgh.

We happened to notice Wedgwood whilst wandering down the Royal Mile. The menu looked good so we went in and booked a table for a few days after. The welcome was warm and not too formal. Decor good. All the food was good, maybe not the absolutely best we have eaten. Staff went out of their way to please. Loved... More

Went here for my wife's birthday. Have ate in various restaurants in the city and will not be back to this one. This restaurant has the pretence of a fine dining restaurant and the menu to go with it, but fails to deliver. Our experience was very small under seasoned portions and although it was strange to have salt &... More

Dinner, wine and service were all excellent. Unpretentious and fairly priced. Beautifully prepared dishes. Understated decor in a modest sized dinning room added to our enjoyment. A highlight of our visit to Edinburgh.

Wedgwood is an excellent restaurant on the Royal Mile. Fresh, local ingredients, great service, and a beautiful atmosphere (I like the street-level eating area rather than the basement). Not inexpensive, but worth it. My friend said that the sticky toffee pudding was the best dessert she has had in her life! It is a generous portion, but the couple next... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
