I would rate this restaurant 5, but for the fact that the upstairs is hot, can be cramped and there is a smell of cooking. There is a small downstairs section and it is cooler and quieter so we asked to eat there and did so. I have eaten here before and I felt the same about the upstairs, although... More

Excellent Scottish Modern cuisine. This is where I tried venison haggis and loved it. My dinner companion had the scallop appetizer which was also amazing. Waitstaff wore matching gray dresses with the name of the restaurant stichted on the pockets. We found that a little strange for a high end restaurant.

Had a delicious Anniversary meal for 4. Service food and whole experience were excellent. First visit to Wedgwoods, but it certainly won't be our last. Little extras from the kitchen was very much appreciated.

Top 5 in Edinburgh, absolutely fabulous and value food. The menu is varied and packed with local produce and cuisine with a refined finish and presentation. I won't comment on specifics as we know that they change the menu constantly week by week which alludes to the class of the place. You are highly unlikely to be disappointed...unless you don't... We had a delicious lunch here today. We had the three courses for £18.75. To start I had Venison Terrine which was delicious, for the main course I had Sea Bass which melted in my mouth and for desert I had Sticky Toffee Pudding which has to be the lightest sticky toffee pudding I have ever had. All the food... More

Wedgwood is a lovely restaurant right on the historic Royal Mile. I made a reservation about a week before coming, which was a good idea because it only has about 15 tables. I liked that the restaurant wasn't too crazy and loud, and had a calming atmosphere. All of our food was delicious, beautifully presented and reasonably priced. The portions... More

We wandered in to this restaurant one lunchtime as a treat after walking up Arthur's Seat. I'm so pleased we did rather than opting for the usual pub grub on offer. The atmosphere was welcoming and the lunch menu had plenty of options at a reasonable price. We both had three courses - I had the smoked salmon to start... More

After having dinner here I now see why they are listed on the London Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants in the UK. The starters were great and I was impressed the drink between courses to cleanse the palette. It was not that thrilled with the Scottish lamb loin which was rather dry and not that warm. If you want Scotch... More

The food at Wedgewood is undeniably tasty and very inventive. The chef clearly takes pride in using local ingredients well and largely succeeds with some unexpected yet pleasing combinations. We felt that the ambiance in the downstairs dining room left a little to be desired so I would recommend trying to get a table in the main room upstairs. We... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
