We really liked it. Of course very touristic; nevertheless we had a very pleasant experience. All dishes were really well prepared and tasted great
Service was very friendly and helpful
Prices are according to the location of the restaurant and the quality. We were satisfied and would come back

The Last Drop is a historic Restaurant in the center od Edimburgh (Scotland)
Its open from monday to sunday at lunch time.
The food at the Last Drop is extraordinary! They make delicious hamburguers and its a clearly example of traditional scotish food. I went to the Last Drop because the tour guide told me the increidible and terrorifing story that happened there on the middle century. The food is prepared carefully and that is what make it delicious. The only bad thig that i see for this restaurant is that is too crowed but in Edimburgh is diffucult to find a place that isnt full of people.
I recomend having a meal at the Last Drop, its the most delicious food that i tested in all Edimburgh and the prices aren´t too expensive. Its the kind of place where you will realy test the authentic food of the city.

When I found out whats in Haggis I was a bit concerned but this restaurant truly delivered some amazing taste. The starter Haggis came with two different Whiskey based sauces - both excellent. The burger is made of Scottish Beef - you can taste the difference if you aren’t local so I would only recommend the beef burger to those able to handle strong meet taste. The chicken burger was outstanding. Fairly priced, staff are really welcoming and was super professional at all times, even cracked a few jokes for us. Toilets are clean and ready to welcome disabled people. Nice location - walking distance from the main train station. Restaurant kept clean, there are seatings both inside and outside. Nice selection of drinks available. The BBQ sauce served with the burgers was outstanding. Definitely recommend.

This place was pointed out by the guide on the hop on hop off bus when my wife and I briefly visited Edinburgh earlier in the year. So when we stayed for a few days at a hotel down the road we decided to have our evening meal there one night. Especially as I was able to download a first visit gift voucher for 25% off from Nicholson Pubs.
There's quite a few items on the menu involving haggis, so we both chose a different one .... only to be told they had run out of haggis .... what?!! So I had the Stovies - I was presented with a soup bowl sized dish of greyish mush on a plate with about a tablespoon of peas and two small pieces of bread. I'm not really a big eater but it took me no more than 5 minutes to eat and finished still hungry; tasted no better than just OK. Very disappointing.
My wife wanted the haggis, neeps and tatties, was offered the chicken dish, which should have come with haggis, but of course not tonight, although with no price reduction. Not good enough! So she chose the "Wheatberry, Apple and Cranberry Salad with cherry tomatoes, cucumber and salad leaves" plus Smoked Salmon; when it came, the only items from that list present were a very small slice of smoked salmon and a handful of leaves. Again, not good enough, not good enough at all, certainly not for 13 quid! My wife was also left hungry. Should have complained? Yes, probably, but our waiter didn't seem interested enough to have cared, anyway. So we just claimed our 25% off (small consolation, indeed), paid and left, resolving never to return.
The evening was saved by a superb portion of chips and a fried Mars bar from the chippie across the road.

Myself and work colleagues lunched here recently. Should be a good pub following upgrading but it isn’t. Over priced. Various pints at over £5 a pint. They obviously pitch prices at the tourist market since you can get similar pints at a nearby Weatherspoons pub at less than £3. Food is average but small portions and overpriced for a pub. The main grip is that an automatic 10% service charge is added to your bill which puts the price of a pint to over £6!!!
Standard of toilets are poor - avoid at all costs. Far better places locally

Popped in here whilst at the fringe festival for a bite to eat. Lovely wee place in terms of decor and atmosphere.
The staff were abrupt, and we were seated and ordered - The drinks arrived, all flat as a pancake, and were replaced by bottles. (but with an attitude)
Starters were nice, and when we were finished we were asked if we wanted anything else or just the bill. We declined on the basis we were awaiting mains.
Mains were reasonable apart from the burger, it was absolutely smothered in gauacamole making it inedible. When the plates were collected the waitress asked if all was ok, explained about the burger being inedible, she wasn't in the least interested.
Then the bill was put down on our table (again we didn't ask for it). Asked for coffee / ice cream for the kids instead, wish we hadn't bothered. Bill arrived, paid and left.
The staff are unwelcoming, cold and abrupt, the food is decent and well priced.

What a shame. After a long days travel and walking we chose to eat here "albeit later than we usually do"
The Bartender was very polite and professional. Unfortunately we where drawn in with a sign outside saying that last meal orders 9pm. When asking the bar man, how to order food he mentioned through the QR code or over the bar. We ordered drinks and went back to the table which we had already decided outside before entering. Ordering through the QR code took us a while due to not having the app installed and logging on to their own WiFi which was painfully SLOW downloading 8mb. The app wouldn't allow us to order so after asking, was told at 8.34pm that they weren't taking food orders.
I explained about the sign outside but was refused. (from the barman through a young lady staff member)
Can't really fault the barman as he was just the messenger but quite disappointed that nothing else was offered.
The sign needs updating or removed if 9pm isn't the cut off time or at least be clearer if people are going to be inconvenienced.
The sign still hadn't been removed when leaving the premises as per photo.

Thank you for visiting we are sorry our kitchen wasn't open when you came in. We do try to update our signage when we have staff shortages but if in doubt always go with what the staff member says.

We had been told about the food at this pub, and decided to try it without thinking of booking. Although we were in fairly early, about 4.30 pm, it was very busy but we managed to get a table.
Although small as restaurants go, it was very busy and the food was excellent, with Good sized portions. I had a ribeye steak, with chips, and the steak was perfectly cooked and very tasty, the chips were lovely, crispy without any grease.
Staff were good and if in Edinburgh again, I would definitely return.

We visited last night (Thursday), we hadn't booked so couldn't be seated for food straight away. Its a small pub and seemed busy, we had a drink at the bar and had a table within 10 minutes. The service was good and staff were friendly, nice atmosphere, everyone, staff and customers seemed happy.
Gabriel, running the food area, was lovely, very bubbly and chatting with everyone.
Our food arrived quickly and piping hot, it was delicious, between us we had the haggis and vegetable broth as starters, Balmoral chicken and crofters pie for mains and then sticky toffee pudding... all delicious. So glad they managed to seat us, after spending the day out in the cold, this food was just what we needed.
Between 2 of us we spent about £100, on 2 rounds of drinks and a 3 course meal each. Might seem pricey for some, but pretty standard for us and no complaints

We came here for food after ringing to book after reading the menu online which sounded lovely and being told ‘just walk in’ it will be fine. Sat with a drink, saw menu was totally different to the one online which was disappointing then saw a notice that said food to be ordered by 8pm. I went to the bar at 7.30pm and stood waiting for 10 minutes as only 1 member of staff was serving. The other one was there but not serving. The person infront of me ordered food then when it was my turn I was told ‘the kitchen’s closed’. When I queried that it was not yet 8pm I was told there were lots of things missing from the menu so the kitchen was shut. Really poor customer service, not even an apology! Will not return.
Try Alba bistro instead, went there, fabulous service and food.

Thank you very much for visiting and for leaving a review - we are sorry we couldn't stay open for you; there's a few supply chain issues and staffing issues just now; hopefully it will all be sorted by 2022 (as long as someone finds a way to revoke Brexit!). We are glad you enjoyed Alba - they are great too!

Visited at 630 Wednesday evening 4th August.
We were shown to a table and told 'can you sit here' and then left alone. No welcome, no offer of drinks.
We then had to ask for a menu.
Server came - who seemed new and unsure - asked us if we were ready to order so we ordered two drinks. Drinks menu has no prices on it.
Asked for our food order then told they had no chicken left (at 1845)..
Had mac and cheese with bacon (which came lacking in mac and precisely zero bacon).
Also ordered stovies which said it was cooked in a rich gravy but then came with a different gravy in a Jug. Vegetables looked like they'd had the last drop of life squeezed out of them.
The girl that served the food literally came, plonked the food and scarpered. No niceties. No would you like another drink.
Then when she appeared again we managed finally to get another drink ordered. Again she seemed like speed was more important to her than service.
We did order the brownie which looked nice and the girl remembered a spoon for us to eat it with. Again no niceties.
All in all the worst experience we've had in Edinburgh...

We came to Edinburgh for a couples weekend away. We attended this pub for our first drink of the evening. After having 1 drink the manager came to say sorry you have had enough to drink please leave. The staff were very rude and the pub was not that busy and our bill was nearly £50 I would not recommend this pub as it made a disappointment start to our weekend really don’t know what his problem was STAY AWAY.

We popped in here for afternoon drinks and decided to stay to eat before heading to a gig nearby. We enjoyed a bottle of Merlot which was very good followed by a couple of pints. Staff were nice and friendly, explaining how things work in this establishment.
We opted for Cullen Skink (definitely not authentic Cullen Skink) I cook and supply catering for a living and come from the far north where Cullen Skink is legendary. My husband had the Balmoral chicken which looked lovely. I had the macaroni with garlic ciabatta and loaded fries to share. I have to say, the macaroni was the best macaroni I’ve ever had anywhere and as I said, I cook and supply catering for a living. It was amazing, lovely strong tasting cheese and perfectly grilled. The macaroni wasn’t flaccid and over cooked as it is in lots of places but slightly al dente as it should be. Although some people might find the food and drinks pricey you have to remember this is in the heart of Edinburgh, it’s VERY expensive to run a pub and eatery. We will definitely return on our next visit. 10/10 for this pub.

Drink order take before I could even sit down. Ordered two starters as we couldn’t decided for a main.
Food came out very quick. Sat for 20 minutes with plates stacked at the end of the table with our menus in front us us waiting to order our mains. No second drinks offered.
Mains came out. Butter milk chicken burger dripping in fat and the slow beef rib, completely different to what the main suggested.
From travelling from the bottom of England, to Scotland, all over, this has to be the worst meal I’ve Ever had.

Pub itself is in a great location on the Grass market with a selection of bars around it and is lovely inside. As for the food my wife had Haggis, which she loved and I had a Scottish Stovies, a beef and vegetable stew which was very tasty.
We finished off with a Cranachan, whipped cream with a wee dram, oats and berries in a half pint pot. It's very rich and does for two to finish off the meal perfectly.

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
