We loved every minute, from the food to the service. We tried pretty much everything as we couldn't decide what to have......all washed down with some warm saki. We will return on next visit to Edinburgh.

We visited Bonsai with our children (son 9 & daughter 7). Our son doesn't really eat sushi, but we'd like to continue to expose him in the hope that'd he'd find something he likes. We picked up a small savory pastry for him, just in case, so he has something to eat. We asked the watress if that was ok,... More

Very fresh, tasty fish & seafood. They always have specials and the grilled eel roll is so good. It's so hard to choose, everything is nice! My kids (9 & 5) also love the food in here. The toilets could do with better lighting and freshening up.

Small restaurant in a studenty/casual style atmosphere. Seats aren't too comfortable though and squeezing into the seats was challenging. Only one waiter for the whole restaurant so service was lacking. We were sat in a corner furthest away so hardly got any attention and frequently had empty glasses. Food was really good though. It was all freshly made, tasty, good... More

Very compact restaurant which didn't make for a comfortable dinner even though quite relaxed surroundings inside. Food was very good though as was the service and very reasonably priced.

Visited for late night supper roughly 11.30pm. Staff were very helpful with good advice on menu choices . Food was fabulous. Very tasty and plentiful .Even though it was late and we were the last customers we never felt under any pressure to hurry. Enjoyed coconut ice cream and saki sorbet too. Can't wait to go back .

This pace is tiny but always serves very nice sushi . It has got outside sitting area which we usually prefer to avoid the kitchen's odor indoors. Their sushi dishes are quite diverse and nicely done. Probably the most reasonably priced sushi restaurant in Edinburgh . Every time you visit them you can also get points to achieve discount on... Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighborhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighborhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
