my search for Edinburgh's top burger continues, and I think I may have found a winner. Great burger with fresh pesto and mozzarella in a beautifully soft bun. Patty nicely charred, with a the centre moist, still pink, and nicely seasoned. Large, crisp onion rings, and a nice side salad. Topped off with good draft beers, and friendly staff. Very... More

Our expectations were really high before we ate here, as we had heard so many good things about the burgers... Unfortunately, the experience didn't really live up to it. The burger was by no means bad, but it was nothing special. I ordered a cheese burger - The meat was quite dry and the bun was burnt in places. One... More

Not a big burger lover but wow, converted tonight at the Cambridge Bar. We had 4 different burgers & all excellent. Choice of drinks were impressive & staff were friendly & helpful. Looking forward to returning on our next trip to Edinburgh in August

I've been out for lunch/dinner here 4 times now and every time the food and staff have been perfect. I had never tried Buffalo before and after having it as a burger, I'd never go back to standard beef again. My girlfriends burger was incorrect on our first visit - which they fixed very quickly and then took off the... More

Went with a group of 8 friends from work. Really well looked after throughout with attentive and polite staff. Beer served to the table so no need to go to the bar. The burgers were top notch and there was a massive selection. The quiz (Monday night) was good although the guy doing the quiz dragged it out for too... More

A short walk from Princes Street but worth the effort. Good food, good beer & great atmosphere. Staff couldn't have been more helpful, even though we hadn't booked for food they fitted us in; will certainly go back.

Booked this bar for a night out for 13 work colleagues. Everyone had a great night. Burgers, especially buffalo burgers were amazing. Staff very attentive and friendly. Definitely consider this as a future venue again.

Fab service and fab food what more can you ask for!?! Visited after recommendation and was not disappointed. Particularly loved the buffalo burger and Cajun fries. Lots of choice on the menu at reasonable prices too. Service from staff was also particularly outstanding. So refreshing to meet staff who are nice and friendly. Can't wait to return.

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
