The most amazing experience and surpassed already very high expectations! This was a belated 40th treat from my fiancé (from Jan 2021). The food was absolutely incredible and the staff could not have been better. Words really cannot describe the experience - cannot wait to...go back.More

A wonderful experience from start to finish. Even in these difficult covid times, service wasn't rushed we were there for dinner and were there for nearly 4 hours which gave plenty of time to savour all the dishes on the tasting menu and the accompanying...wine flight. The food is so good it is difficult to pick a favourite but for us the stand out dish was the scallops that were baked in pastry. Portion sizes are quite big for a Michelin tasting menu. staff all very friendly and booked us a taxi when we were finally ready to leave. Chef Tom was in the kitchen which is always good to see.More

Six of us ate here for my birthday last week. We did the set lunch and 5 had the paired wines as I am totally wine intolerant. Having advised the restaurant of that beforehand I got a specially prepared menu of choices specifically for me...- now that is service. Suffice to say we were there from 1.45 till just after 5pm and the service from start to finish was impeccable. Tom was there and very much to the fore. With regards to the food the pre amuse-bouche was delicious, the amuse-bouche was amazing, the starters were excellent, the deserts were superb but the two who had cheese plates would have loved a choice of cheese. As far as the mains go there was one slight issues, the two with steak found it cooked perfectly but either needed a sharper knife or a slightly more tender piece of meat. Our third visit here and worth every penny.More

Having booked The Kitchin last year for our anniversary only to be let down by lockdown 29, this year's re-booking was eagerly looked forward to. Nothing disappointed, the food was amazing, service impeccable and nothing was too much trouble. Mr. Kitchen had left a card...on the table for our anniversary and visited several tables, including ours, chatting away. Nice location also.More

Really lived up to our expectations and more! Chose the lunch set menus including 2 vegetarian lunch set menus too - choices superb all round. The other Trip-advisors reviews below say everything that needs to be said - a truly special venue with special top...class staff and superb food. Tom Kitchin is a pure delight - even having a few jokes with us and making my sons delayed 21st birthday celebration a real treat. If you are thinking of travelling to Edinburgh - try to prioritise The Kitchin on your ‘To-Do’ list (& try to get booked before) as an experience worth doing. Be aware that the new tram lines are going into Leith and there seems a huge amount of disruption everywhere - but the super Scottish taxis know all the short cuts to get you to the restaurant. Thank you Team Tom!More

After having to move our booking three times due to Covid our excitement levels were very high to finally visit The Kitchin. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the staff so welcoming and knowledgeable. The food was out of this world, I'd especially recommend the...scallop starter the waiter even told me to dip the pastry in the sauce it was that good! Lovely touch at the end the Tom went around and introduced himself to everyone.More

Wonderful greeting at the door by Tom Kitchin himself, the ambiance as you enter is relaxed yet buzzing. The staff are attentive but not intrusive and Chef Kitchin often came to the table to explain the dishes, as we had chosen the tasting menu. A...nice touch was the map we were given to show where the ingredients came from. The pace was leisurely and we were asked if the dishes were coming too fast or too slow. The timing was perfect. Now to the food, what can I say to do it justice...scallops that melted in the mouth, perfectly cooked halibut, succulent deer with a stunning sauce and many other absolutely amazing dishes, finished with a stunning souffle. A wonderful experience, ordered a signed copy of one of the cook books which was waiting for us alongside a lovely card for our wedding anniversary. The attention to detail at the Kitchin is outstanding on all counts. Looking forward to returning.More

Really excited to eat at this restaurant, the nature to plate concept is commendable and the produce is superb. However, the majority of dishes were on the heavy side, it all felt a bit too rich and somewhat over seasoned I enjoyed the evening and...I would give it another go, as I felt staffing and the current climate may have not allowed them to be at their best.More

This is our 3rd visit and the excellent standards in every facet continue to please. The food is some of the best you will every have and the experience of fantastic service is hard to surpass. We had the surprise taster menu with matching wine...and everything was good. My son in law's food was adjusted as he isn't keen on shellfish. Good to see Tom Kitchin actually in the back ensuring the food is good. Always a shame when a top chef moves away from the kitchin to managing chains of places etc so keep it up Tom.More

We arrive a little early but they seated us promptly. We explained that we do not like shellfish and that I have a spinach allergy and the tasting menu was adjusted to our liking. Every course was absolutely amazing with even some things that we...don't usually like really surprised us with the flavour. In particular the fennel was a delightful surprise and the pecan on the dessert was so Christmassy and delicious it have me goosebumps. The one minor let down was at the end of the meal, when the attentive service dwindled and we had to wait over 20 minutes to get our bill and leave. This seems to be a perpetual problem when we eat out but I had hoped it wouldn't happen here.More

I went on a Saturday and had the set menu - it was £36 for 3 courses. Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was amazing!
