The food was delicious with excellent service. Also a unique experience dining in a room that used to be a dungeon.

Although everything was beautifully presented, plates hot - yet my fish was barely warm. Slow service, we wondered if the other room had many more guests as we felt forgotten.

Eating in this atmosphere was amazing! Canapés to start in the library and then you are brought to your table with excellent service and artistically created good that was delicious but be warned if you are hungry the portions are small!

Wonderful detail in all the courses - the atmosphere was wonderful and the staff were very attentive. Each course was delicious and the restaurant only has a few tables in so it felt like we were not cramped in.

From start to finish (almost three hours) this was a great experience. The Dungeon Restaurant is part of Dalhousie Castle so as you approach you are treated to the view of a traditional Scottish Castle set in its own grounds with accompanying falconry. The dining experience (certainly not just a meal) began in the library. We decided to go with... More

The Dungeon Restaurant and Orangery • The Dungeon Restaurant Dining at the Castle is a unique experience. The ancient barrel-vaulted dungeons provide an unusual setting to enjoy the fine, traditional Scottish and classical French castle cuisine, from fresh local produce. For example; Salmon, Venison and Grouse are complemented by an interesting selection of wines and an unrivalled quality of friendly and professional service. Private parties for up to 22 guests can be catered for in the gate side of the Dungeon Restaurant. Reservations are advised to avoid disappointment. • The Orangery A more relaxed alternative to the unique barrel vaulted Dungeon Restaurant, the Orangery overlooks the meandering South Esk River and tranquil scenic parkland. The eclectic style decor makes an enchanting dining experience, complemented by a contemporary Scottish and European menu, with healthy and light options available for Aqueous Spa guests. The Orangery is the ideal place to rest, replenish and unwind. • Scottish Banquets Scottish Banquets are held at Dalhousie Castle in the traditional style with crystal, candelabrums and silver. The evening starts with a welcome from the Piper, pre-dinner drinks are then served. The Banquet commences and the Piper addresses the Haggis with Robert Burn's famous "Ode to the Haggis". The Piper also plays for the two Scottish Highland Dancers dancing traditional Highland Jigs.
