Recently here for a friendly evening meal. no complaints, staff on the ball and accommodating dietary requirements. Food lovely with a good choice of dishes - being a steak fanatic i was very satisfied! Would definitely come again for one of their themed nights or lunch also. Perhaps slightly over priced considering location.

First Coast lived up to the great reviews I had read before going. We had the spiced beef and hummus to start which was perfect followed by delicious sirloin steaks. They were well seasoned and it was a generous portion - we felt full by the end. We finished the meal with ice cream. There is plenty to choose from... More

This restaurant is absolutely amazing!! Very friendly staff always helpful and welcoming. Restaurant is nice and cozy 😊 I've visited this place several times, tried different dishes and loved it everytime!! 👌 Absolutely delicious 😍 they were also very considerate about my gluten intolerance - I got gluten-free bread as a side to my starter, they have a big choice... A large (18) group of us was gathered to celebrate a good friend's 60th birthday. The restaurant had organized a meal 'package' which suited everybody. Orders were taken and delivered extremely efficiently even as people 'mingled'. Hats off to the great waiting staff. I started with Tia fishcakes, which had good 'chunks' of inside (unlike some places where there is... More

We spent an enjoyable Friday evening at first coast. The restaurant is quite tightly fitted and there is only one toilet for everyone (it's an all in one male/female/disabled bathroom) which cause queuing issues. I certainly wouldn't want to be seated near there. The service was really good. Starters were nice but a little bit on the small side. We... More

In Edinburgh for Fringe and had a concert near Haymarket when we chanced on First Coast. The menu was not extensive but was interesting. All the food was locally sourced. I had herring which was delicious. The restaurant was busy with family groups and couples who all seemed to be enjoying themselves.

The restaurant it is not in the city centre but you will notice that it is always full. The food is incredible. We were there with friends and at the end we had the same opinion, the quality of the meals were awesome and definitely we will repeat.

Last minute booking post theatre and there are surprisingly few restaurants for dining after ten during the festival. On arrival staff at First Coast were friendly, chatty and very helpful. They gave good advice and all without any pushy upselling. Starters were fried cat fish and humus with beef; mains were fresh mackerel and cod with gnocchi. Everything was good... More

Upon arrival to Edinburgh we found this wonderful restaurant close to our hotel. We were very impressed with the selection, the wine, and the service. Enjoyed some fresh fish! Will definitely go back again.

We are in Edinburgh for a weeks holiday during the festival and are staying in an apartment just around the cover from this restaurant. Saw some good review so tried it last night. Worth checking the menu beforehand as it is only a small menu but we knew there were things our teenage sons would like. Restaurant was nicely busy... More

Description
Opening Hours:- MONDAY - Saturday. Lunch 12pm-2pm Dinner 5pm-10.30pm West Edinburgh wasn't a dining hotspot, but charming, inviting, delicious First Coast is one of the establishments that have been changing that. A comfy toddle from Haymarket station, First Coast is quite an intimate, relaxed shop front restaurant done out the blues and greys of the sea, with rough hewn centre wall and super smart detailing. The frequently-changing modern Scottish menu lists meat and fowl as well as fish. Starters include very tender marinated squid, soy and sesame salad, mains include spicy grilled chicken breast with homemade sweet chilli sauce and coconut rice, and sweets include deep fried jam sandwich with vanilla ice cream- seriously. Short, thoughtful wine list, good vegetarian choices and warm service.
