We ate here twice in 4 days during our visit to Edinburgh. The second occasion wasn't planned or booked bu we had walked out of our intended restaurant because they were not adhering to any Covid security at all. This was in complete contrast to Pataka where we were at a distance from other customers and the staff were wearing masks throughout. As to the food both days were very tasty and the portions were huge - especially my vegetable biryani. My friend found the chicken jalfrezi to be a bit hot but as the chillies were whole they were easy to remove. The service was attentive but not oppressive and the first night even without Mr Sunak's discount was great value. A good place to eat if you like a good curry.

Regulars to the restaurant but this was our first take away .Wow ! Best take away ever. Meat samosa was tender really tasty 3 good sized samosas as one portion.
northern garlic chicken, spicy and oh the chicken so tender beautifully cooked with a lovely sauce. Shared a vegetarian main course vegetables with dal and a lovely garlic Nan it was truly fab.
Highly recommend also it was very refreshing that they weren't charging high minimal orders or delivery for locals .Thankyou Pataka we look forward to seeing you again

Fantastic place! Lovely decor, friendly and helpful staff. My partner and I went for a meal on valentine's night, we had the assorted kebabs for a starter which were cooked to perfection. Both mains were also beautiful,with large portions. The service was very good and very reasonably priced for the quality of the meal. Would recommend this place to anyone who loves Indian cuisine

Very disappointed. Food had No flavour & just didn't taste very nice. Tried to order a round of poppadoms (5 kids, 2 adults) was going to get one each, waiter said leave it to him he'd sort it out, came with 16. Bill came, was charged ÂŁ21 for the poppadoms!! The only saving grace was the eat out to help scheme! It was still ÂŁ78 down the toilet!!

Myself and my fiance visited this restaurant on 18/01/20 after reading the fantastic reviews. The food was lovely but the service definitely could have been better. We ordered a drink and then ordered our food. Once our food was brought out we did not see another waiter until we finished. We were not offered another drink and once our plates were taken away we were not offered a desert or coffee menu. After waiting and waiting for somebody to offer us a menu at least we became fed up of waiting and decided to ask for our bill and leave. We usually finish our meal with a coffee and brandy but as we didn't get offered or asked if we would like another drink or desert we left. Cannot fault the food though.

Sorry to hear that the service wasnt up to our usual standards. We make every effort to ask each table how their meal is and ask customers if they would like coffee or a dessert menu. We were extremely busy on the night you visited but that is not a excuse. Our sincerest apologies and please give us a call and we can arrange something for you to make it up for your disappointment.

Hunted this place down as reviews were so good. Can see why. Poppadoms were freshly cooked, naan bread really light and fluffy and the curry absolutely spot on. Service was spot on and I would totally recommend this for a group of friends or a data night...

I have been eating and ordering takeaway for many years and I gave never had a bad meal yet. I recommend the red Fort chicken for those who don't like their food too spicy. It us full of flavour. Peshawary nann is also fantastic. The takeaway service is quick and the food just as good as eating in. The restaurant itself is quirky with its rennie macintosh design and the staff are brilliant we never feel rushed. Top-notch food in the south of Edinburgh

One of the best in the city. Outstanding food and friendly service. We often like to just let them choose a variety of dishes for us if we're in a group. Never been disappointed. A long loved presence in the neighbourhood. Long live Pataka!

This is a favourite restaurant during lock down enjoyed the most fabulous take away everything fresh poppadums crispy daal thick and creamy. The star in the crown chicken pathia succulent and a generous portion which we shared. We went on the 're opening night greeted warmly by all given a newly printed full paper menu social distancing in place appropriately felt very safe.Enjoyed another great meal washed down with a lovely bottle of rose wine. Highly recommend this local hostelry

We are Long standing customers of Pataka who returned post lockdown. As always we received a warm welcome and all safety measures were in place. This is a Restaurant we rate very highly because of the friendly and professional staff, good food and value for money. We would highly recommend it.

Bad choice made here only in Edinburgh for two nights and chose this as we are big curry fans and the ratings were good ... I’m not sure why though the meal was VERY bland not nice at all really , not only this but 50% of the staff were rude mainly the one chap with blue shirt older guy had zero manners very abrupt and not customer friendly in our view . Wouldn’t recommend as quite a drive out of city and not worth the hassle .

During lockdown, we ordered a number of takeaways from Pataka, mostly Friday or Saturday evenings. We found them to be very tasty indeed and when they arrived, the delivery staff were friendly and the food was hot. Of particular note was the CTM and the Chilli Garlic Chicken which was very much enjoyed.
I look forward to eating in the restaurant itself at some stage and ordering takeaways/ deliveries in the future

From entering the restaurant, we found the staff very friendly. Waiters struck just the right balance between attentive without being intrusive. Food was fantastic - 2 curries, each completely different and both amazingly flavoursome. The waiter even asked if we wanted our pickles and raita left for when our main main meals arrived - a very nice touch. Decor very tasteful in the style of C.R.M. without appeaing tacky. Very good pint of McEwans and Caledonian 80bob. Highly recommended.

Food was amazing with a good service. Good location not that far from town and recommend this place to people who want a good curry for a good price. I recommend the chicken tikka masala and the North Indian garlic chicken with rice.

We came here from Birmingham as we were visiting and seen the reviews so gave it a go staff were super friendly and the food was reasonably priced. Most places have been rushing us out when we go for the eat out however the staff here were super patient and lovely. Highly recommend.
