The coffee was good but our scones heavy and dry. The place didn't look clean and there was a fusty smell.

We are so looking forward to our veggie breakfast after a night out in Edinburgh but the service was unreasonably slow. We arrived at 10.10am and placed our order 2 muffins with veg sausage & fried egg & 1 muffin with veg haggis & scrambled egg. Although the restaurant was really quiet (2 other tables) we still had to ask... More

Very good meal for four. My friends said the vegetarian haggis was superb. I had the lasagne which was good as well. Sweets really nice Service efficient and not pushy and the cost not high. Always worth booking

Started off with marinated olives and soup of the day, which was potatoes and leek(comes with two slices of bread-can ask for gluten free.) olives were a bit smaller portioned than I expected but nonetheless delicious. Soup was pretty good and warmed my stomach up for our main dish. I ordered the risotto! It was very creamy and consisted of... More

Lovely vegan restaurant. Friendly staff. Great food and service. Lots of choice. Good value. Good location We arrived at 12pm and had no problem getting a table. By 1pm the restaurant was nearly full which was impressive for a niche establishment on a side street on a Thursday! Highly recommended. DC

Loved this place for breakfast on Saturday - opens at 8am which is great as you can come in relax and enjoy before you start your shopping! You can be as healthy or unhealthy as you wish but either way the quality of the food is outstanding Recommend the porridge and Scottish vegan breakfast- both superb! Will be coming back... More

I popped into the deli/cafe part of this place for lunch. The veggie/vegan options were brilliant as was the standard of the food standards. I recommend the Hallomi Wrap. The only aspect that really let this fantastic place down was the staff, who would benefit from improving their customer services in the following ways: - If customers are waiting and... More

We cam to Hendersons years ago when a vegetarian restaurant was not popular, but times have caught up with this venerable place and it still serves great fresh food in a casual and hospitable environment at reasonable prices. We were there for breakfast and later returned for lunch. My partner had the Haggis and Scrambled aggs which were delicious and... More

I went to hendersons with a friend for brunch. Unfortunately the brunch menu finished very early (before 12) so we had the salad bar. The salad selection was very good and tasty but it was difficult to choose as none of the salads were labelled and it wasn't obvious what each was. The potato salad was really good it was... More

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
