The haggis was very good and felt authentic, would recommend. Great selection of ciders and beers. As tourists the prices felt reasonable. Great atmosphere and service.

Fantastic selection of meat/veg with multiple mash options. Our party ate chicken with whiskey & Drambuie sauce with mustard mash and the wild boar sausages with smoked bacon and mustard mash and horseradish mash. All the food was really tasty. We all had desert -...sticky toffee pudding was divine as was the crumble. Service was excellent.More

The best food we have eaten in Edinburgh! Such amazing service and kindness from the staff, specifically Katie and Rae. They were patient and attentive with our large party. The lamb was a favorite in our group but we genuinely enjoyed every dish we ordered....Go here for the good stuff.More

Excellent food, great service. Very warm and welcoming place on a cold day. Didn’t need to wait to long as a walk in on the day.

Phenomenal meats and mash. 100% lives up to its reputation and hype. Lamb shank was perfectly prepared and not gamey at all. Would recommend the classic mash for this. The cheddar becomes an odd contrast and took away from the lamb flavor imho. Beef shoulder...was perfectly cooked as well. A bit fatty in the center but easily scraped out. When well with either the classic or the cheddar mash. The scotch egg was good but the dipping sauce was odd to our palates. Likely just our inexperience. Still very good. Come here with a reservation or be prepared for a long wait in queue. But it is worth the wait!More

Great experience. The place is very popular, so booking is mandatory. We had two reservations to enjoy several dishes on the menu. We had haggis, lamb, beef, sausages, everything was perfect.

Very busy spot… because the food is AWESOME. AWESOME. Eat here. Do it. I had the lamb shank and my bloke had the beef, we split a half serving of the lions mane mushroom which was surprisingly hearty and delicious. Everything tasted perfect. The host...was wonderful, sweet space cadet purple haired Judy Jetson, greeted us warmly and got us situated, our waitress Katie was excellent - gave us recommendations, answered our questions and had a nice chat despite being so busy. We were walk-ins, we didn’t reserve in advance, and still felt very taken care of. Loved it. Loved it enough to write a review, which I never do.More

I found this place on Find Me GF app. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. I was the only person that had to eat gluten-free in my group of four. However, the food was so great, we all decided to go back...two more times. Consistently on all three of our visits, the food was delicious and the service was exceptional. I highly appreciated a whole menu of gluten-free desserts. Highly recommend.More
