The ice cream was amazing and some fab flavours. The salted caramel was delicious, as was the plain milk but my favourite was the coconut - sooooo good and sooooo creamy. For the more adventurous there was a spiced cardamon ice-cream but I can't quite...More

This cute ice cream bar in Grass-market serves the best Ice-cream I have ever had, dark chocolate, almond and orange, hazelnut, and milk. Which all tasted as rich as if you're biting into the raw ingredients. We went everyday, however on the third their pasteurizer...More

This is definitely the best ice cream/gelato I've had. They always change up their flavours and make the ice cream fresh. Can be a long line up during busy tourist times but worth the wait!!

Delicious icecreams with rare but yummy flavours and you are served at the counter by Mary herself!! In a perfect location to buy an icecream and stroll up the steps to the castle.

Mary at Mary's Milk Bar greets you when you enter her tiny shop. It smells like rich coffee and chocolate...quite nice. Her decor is darling - very retro but mod at the same time with always a catchy window display. If you know anyone named...More

This shop is in an ideal position for tourists and visitors and I can see it will always be busy. A very small shop, only a couple of small tables and chairs, so probably more likely you will eat your ice cream outside. It's quite...More

The dark chocolate flavour is the best chocolate ice cream I've ever had. The queue is long but worth it

Located in a great spot (grassmarket), after you've had dinner at one of the many pubs and restaurants, head to Mary's for ice cream. A great range of flavours, excellent service and they taste yummy too. Don't miss it if you're an ice cream enthusiast...More

Tasty ice cream after a long day and lots of walking around. I wanted to try a unique flavor, so I ordered the goat cheese and gooseberry. It didn't disappoint.

I really can't say enough good things about Mary's. I'm in uni here and live nearby, so I probably visit once or twice a month with friends/visiting family. The staff at Mary's are so friendly and smiley, and the shop is very welcoming. Has great...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

Mary's Milk Bar provides a cosy wee space to enjoy all things gelato and chocolate, Everything is made by Mary in her little laboratory in the back of the shop. There's real ice cream milkshakes, traditional floats and sundaes and handmade artisan chocolate gifts. The 1930s interior looks out at the majestic Edinburgh Castle.
