The drinks here are moderately cheap and the atmosphere of the lounging areas screams hipster--movie posters pasted haphazardly on the walls in front of the sofas and pillows. The vibe was great and we definitely enjoyed our visit!

Where am I? What was I doing? How did I end up here? Don't like the look of that hairy bugger behind the bar...Oh dear I'm in the Brass again. Time for shots I guess.

I really like the whole vibe of the Brass Monkey. Those sofas are what makes it a great place to have a drink and relax.

Went in today, Tuesday 7th November, about 3pm, and your man behind the bar was arrogant when we asked about what real ales they had. Will go to one of the better pubs in the area next time

Popped in here for a drink because it looked intriguing from the outside. It turned out to be a rather nice pub with interesting gin choices. I had a g&t with Edinburgh raspberry gin. The back room of the pub is a fabulously dingy dive...More

I visited The Brass Monkey twice in August inbetween shows at the Fringe festival. It has a bar area and two snug rooms plus other seating areas. It has a bit of a student feel to it but there were people of all ages there....More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its

visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
