Good food and atmosphere. It was a bit slow for what we ordered. Nice all day menu including a lot of breakfast items, meaning an ideal place for brunch whenever you wake up.

Blue Bear lies in Canonmills, an area of Edinburgh not short of little day-time cafés mainly due to the presence of a large bank office nearby. There's been quite a turnaround of the Brandon Terrace cafés, though, and Blue Bear has been 'something else similar' two or three times before. We went on a glorious sunny summer's day but chose... The cafe is located in a beautiful corner of Edinburgh next to the water of Leith and Botanical gardens. It was a treat to have breakfast in Blue Bear which was a busy hum in the sunny early afternoon. Me and my friends sat down toward the back with a view out to the garden, which made it feel pretty... Great for breakfast or brunch. We've been here 4 or 5 times and the food and service at absolutely consistently great. If you fancy some good food and reasonable prices in a friendly and non pretentious environment then this is the place. I'd make the effort to come here even if you are not staying in the location.

A serendipitous visit which surpassed expectations. Great food, great service and fab coffee. The menu is varied with lots of local and organic produce and the staff were attentive and pleasant without being overbearing. Great little cafe.

When we arrived the cafe was queued out the door but we only had to wait 10 minutes for a table. The staff were all very friendly and the menu was extensive and caters for people on all diets. I got the veggie breakfast which was massive and came with juice and a tea. Fantastic value at just over £8.... More

Have been here a few times for brunch and it is consistently good. Make sure you are hungry for the Big Bear! Came today with a puppy that we are looking after for some friends and they were very welcoming despite the dog's best efforts to trip everyone up!

I was warned that they might be full on a Saturday morning, but it seems that the clientele may have been catching culture at the Fringe. The team were friendly and efficient. There was plenty of space. The full cooked breakfast was both full and (beautifully) cooked , so no problem with the Trades Descriptions Act. Though cholesterol take should... More
