All students and employees of nearby businesses know this place. Their crepes are cheap and delicious, with well designed recipes and good ingredients. Plus, the Brazilian couple running it are very friendly to everybody. Be prepared to wait in the cold for at least 10 minutes at busy times, but they deserve it.

This stand at the top of the meadows serves sweet and savoury Pancakes of various flavours. The portion sizes are generous and both sweet and savoury pancakes are delicious. Very good value for money. One of my favourite places in Edinburgh. The staff are very friendly and always up for a chat, which creates a really nice atmosphere. They also... More

Delicious gluten free pancakes. I find myself stopping to buy one whenever I'm passing. This is an absolute godsend for coeliacs who struggle to find safe gluten free food on the move. They also have a soya mix for those who are lactofree. Definitely worth a visit!

Yummy yummy gluten-free crepes with absolutely delicious fillings. The tastiest street food you can find in Edinburgh and actually genuine street food! Worth the queue and the wait for piping hot and completely fresh food.

Excellent quality, good value & friendly street food stall in an old police box. Everything fresh & home made. Got a giant fresh crepe stuffed with spicy brisket, sweet potato, squash & salad. They do feijoada on Saturdays so we will be back.

A Brazilian friend back in the States asked me to check this weird little police box out and let her know if they're any good...I am SO happy she did. It has since become our favorite lunch spot on Saturdays. The crepes are gluten free and no matter what style you get them they are absolutely delicious. One crepe is... More

Absolute perfection, paid a visit to this Gluten Free food cart as my girlfriend has coeliac disease. It's ran by a mother & daughter duo, both of whom are friendly, helpful and polite. So, why does it rate so high? That's simply down to the amazing fresh cooked Brazilian food prepared before your very eyes. Portion sizes are generous, the... More

Deliberately looked for this hut having read about it on TripAdvisor. Well worth the visit. No indoor seating and a wait for the food as it's all cooked to order but well worth the wait. Tasty and hot. Friendly couple who run it. Glad we went.

The little box is a great spot for quick lunch! On a sunny day(apparently) the place is just great to grab a hot pancake. Prices are reasonable with quite big portion. Delicious and hot!

It is just a tiny stand with a few seats outside. The pancake is huge and tasty. Everytime I find it hard to go back to work after having such a big lunch.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighborhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighborhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
