We are staying at The Howard, and asked about somewhere close for a late lunch. This was recommended and did not disappoint. It was tasty, fresh and delicious, and my husband thoroughly enjoyed the beer selection as well. I highly recommend it if you are...More

We haven't been to The Cumberland for years, great bar with a garden. Beautifully cooked roasts, I had the braised lamb, my wife had rib of beef. Huge portions and great value for money. We shall return

We visited for a pre-lunch pint and were immeasurably delighted by Otto the 13-week old vizla with excellent manners. Good selection of beers and customers' dogs. Five stars.

We should have turned around and walked out as soon as we saw all the dogs inside but decided to be good sports about it-my son had the burger and has been sick for three days with gastroenteritis. Not a good choice...always ask for burgers...More

I am sorry to hear your son was ill for three days. However, to suggest without any proof that the problem was due to the food in the Cumberland is not acceptable. The food is probed with a thermometer to be certain it is cooked...More

Nice family meal that we were able to fit in before the Trivia event. Tasty nachos, seafood platter and vegetarian Ploughmans. Not really any dessert options for the kids so we went on for that...

Very friendly atmosphere, perfect place to catch up with friends and having a beer or something to eat. Wonderful neighbourhood and al fresco pub. Moreover, it's a place to take your pet with you.

Had the Steak and Ale pie with chips and peas. Brilliant, peas tasted just picked, steak and ale sauce was very flavoursome with a great pastry top.

Visited here again on Sunday as the roast last time was superb! Both had roast pork belly which was delicious and the roast veg especially was very good and large portions. Cheesecake for dessert was up there with the best cheesecake I've had, the berries...More

Pretty good local just far enough away from the centre of Edinburgh. Very good traditional Sunday lunch with good local ales and friendly staff. Certainly would recommend.

Description
Situated in the historic New Town of Edinburgh the Cumberland is a must visit bar. With 8 Real ale taps and superb range of local and imported beers you are not restricted for choice. A great wine menu compliments the exciting food offering. Sunday roast of the day is very popular, with booking recommended. The bar boasts the only beer garden in the New Town and is a popular venue when the sun shines. But you can always sit in front of the open fire if the weather is a little to cold.
