This is a beautiful restaurant located in the center of Edinburgh where we went for lunch. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a waitress with long black hair who seemed less friendly and rather unwelcoming, which did not create a very good first impression. We...were seated by the window in a booth at the back of the restaurant, offering a nice view. I ordered the fish and chips. While the fish was delicious and crispy, the chips were bland, chunky, and starchy, making it difficult for me to finish (perhaps this is the British style, which may not be to my taste). My sister had the mussels, which she found to be delicious. Throughout the meal, the servers did not seem to acknowledge us, even when we wanted to request drinks. This might have been because we were seated at the back, where it was inconvenient for the servers to attend to us frequently due to the limited space. Our food was brought by a young blonde waitress who was very polite and friendly, and she even remembered us from the previous day, which I thought was a nice touch. When we mentioned the lack of service to her, she was apologetic. We were disappointed to learn that the tip we offered her had to be shared. Overall, while the food was good, the service could use some improvement.More

After attending the West End Brasserie, I will be sure not to return. With small portion sizes, little flavour and poor service. We ordered the fish and chips - which is supposed to be a Scottish Specialty was unremarkable, sparse and forgettable. The lamp was...fatty and small. The beef bourguignon was dry and flavourless. After waiting approximately 40 minuets - we were one of 4 table - we ate purely out of hunger. Waiting staff were preoccupied, what appeared to be unhappy and if anything... bored. We at one point heard a waitress say to another server "is it obvious I haven't brushed my hair today"... a comment we did not need to overhear. At one point, there was 4 wait staff standing in a line staring at the diners in an unwelcoming and somewhat eerie. For being based at the heart of the West End of Edinburgh and with so much to offer around, I am surprised this place is still running. Overall a forgettable experience.More

My husband and I were staying in Edinburgh over bank holiday weekend and went to West End Brasserie for dinner on the Saturday night because it was close to our hotel. The staff were really friendly and polite and the food was delicious, in fact...I'd go as far as to say it was the best meal out I've had in a while. I had the beef carpaccio to start and the mussels for main - both were fantastic. Hubby had goat's cheese to start (very good) and the brasserie burger for main, which he said was "not bad" but coming from him is pretty good praise. We shared a cheeseboard for dessert - plenty of cheese and crackers for both of us. We were sat in the window so we could see the Edinburgh, Saturday evening nightlife unfold and we left feeling full and happy.More

Enjoyed a delicious brunch here, alongside a couple of cocktails! Food was great and some lovely gluten free options which is always welcome! The limoncellospritz is definitely worth a try!

Lovely venue, nice setting for an intimate meal. The decor and the ambience created a lovely setting for a romantic evening. The guys provided a lovely service as well as bringing roses when they didn’t have too! Food was fantastic! We had the duck and...sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection!More

Very nice setting ,with window looking out to Edinburgh ,but very disappointed with the food. Fish and chips fish was all batter hard to find the fish asked for tomato sauce and vinegar not given ,and on top of that there’s a 10% service charge...on your bill which on hind sight I would not have given so £50 pounds lighter for two meals ,I certainly won’t be back and never recommend this placeMore

This is an excellent place to start the day, very central with lovely views of Edinburgh Castle. I had the full scottish breakfast and my only complaint is that a cup of tea is not included. Food was nice though.

The location, the food, the decor, and the staff were the ingredients for a perfect lunch. What was supposed to be somewhere out of the rain while I waited for a bus ended up as me enjoying a perfect portion of Moules Frites washed down...with a pint of Guinness. The ambience hit the right note, with quiet music playing in the background. I have been looking for a new 'go to' place in city, and think I have found it.More

I enjoyed a lovely weekend lunch with my girlfriends after attending a gin tasting near by. The service was excellent with our waitress being helpful and friendly. There was a wide range of options available and the food was delicious. The restaurant had a great...atmosphere and had a great location as it was very central to the hustle and bustle of the city and whilst the restaurant was busy, it certainly didn’t feel busy in a way that made you uncomfortable which can sometimes be the case. I’d say this is a great all round restaurant as I enjoyed my day with the girls but likewise I could imagine going with my husband or recommending it to the in-lawsMore
