This restaurant was on a list of suggested restaurants made up by colleagues. I was nicely surprised on my first evening in Edinburgh by the soft and intimate atmosphere - some Jazz music in the background and not too aggressive light. My dinner was delightful thanks to the fresh products the restaurant proposes. The service was attentive and discrete. In... More

I went here with my family and had a lovely evening. We ordered the house wine for the table, which went lovely with the seafood. I ordered the lobster and it tasted fanatastic with the garlic and herb butter. If you enjoy seafood for a reasonable price, I would recommend you eat here.

Visited restaurant on a friday night and it was fairly busy. Our table was ready on arrival and the service was very good. The starters of Squid Ink Linguine followed by Hake was very nice, however I was a little disappointed by the dessert (Creme Brulee) which was very burnt on top and tasted burnt and the creme was very... On a busy Friday night this restaurant was full but still managed excellent service and food delivered in good time. The menu was delicious and the 4 of us had difficulty choosing for the right reasons! All of our choices were excellent, portions were good and the food was very nicely presented.

Went here on a busy Saturday evening with no reservation, the host squeezed us in and I'm glad he did. Service was excellent. Enjoyed the scallops and rack of lamb, and shared the affogato for dessert. Enjoyed this restaurant very much and would recommend.

I have visited several times, when I am in Edinburgh , It always maintained the approach and as well the service at a high end. To add as well for the freshness of the food itself which it's prepared with passion . Looking forward for this visit this years agian in November. Highly recommended

While staying in Edinburgh, my friend and I wanted to sample good local seafood. This is just the place! The menu options had something to tempt every palate and the atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming. We had a cold bottle of white wine and starters of fish cake and mussels - both very well prepared and generous. The main... More

This was my 2nd lunch visit in less than 4 months and I was agreeably pleased yet again by the novel layout featuring a mezzanine floor, warm wood furniture, professional service and very fresh food. Two of us had the small spicy carrot & parsnip soup (£4.00) which was thick, flavourful and perfect for a dreich February day. My other... More

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
