Many of the menu favorites come in small and large sizes so we had mussels, deluxe fish n chips, seafood platter, scallops, salad, toffee pudding, lemon tart, and crème brûlée — everything was fantastic. Most highly recommend mussels, fish n chips, and toffee pudding. But...if you are itching for any seafood in particular, this is the place. Service and attentiveness was beyond expectations. Value for what you get is mind blowing. Take someone you love here.More

I took my mother for a Saturday lunch as part of a day trip to Edinburgh. Neither of us had visited before but I booked a table of the basis of TA reviews. We were not disappointed. The decor and atmosphere was lovely, and all...of the staff were friendly and attentive. The food however was simply superb; fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. I had the monkfish skewers and my mother the deluxe fish and chips. We even had a cheese board to share for afters and that was really tasty too. I will definitely be back!More

Been to this restaurant many years ago and looking for some great seafood we decided to go again. So glad we did - it was a fantastic dining experience from start to finish. Between me and my wife we had oysters, salt & pepper squid...and mussels in white wine to start, then seafood pasta and whole lobster with chips for main - all were absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. Washed down with a fantastic bottle of Albarino. The service was friendly and efficient - just right. The prices were reasonable. Will definitely be back for some more shells soon - loved our night.More

I have eaten in this restaurant for a few years now and have always received a great, attentive service. There is a lovely relaxing atmosphere and the fish is lovely and well cooked. I will happily continue to recommend it.

Had lunch on 18 July, having travelled from Australia and wanted to try local seafood. Decided on the scallops and half lobster and the scallops and langostines. Lobster was a tad undercooked for the wifes liking, and the three langostines had little taste. Scallops, which...consisted of 3 per plate were very nice, came with rocket and chips which could have been cooked a lot longer and more crisp. Nice French viogner washed it down before we had sticky date pudding which was very nice and came with cream and ice cream. Service was good but next time we would try the al a carte menu as the seafood dishes were not that filling.More

We asked the concierges at The Balmoral Hotel for a recommendation for a upscale dining/casual seafood restaurant for our first night in Edinburgh, and the quick consensus among them was Fisher’s in the City. They were able to book us a table. This establishment is...located within a reasonable walk of the hotel, and is one of 3 restaurants with the same ownership in the Edinburgh area. After a short walk up the hill, we located the restaurant on a small cobblestone side street, and were quickly seated. The menu was primarily seafood, both in the starter section as well as the mains, and there were many options. I felt as though I could visit the restaurant several times without duplicating a desirable food choice. After obtaining our adult beverages, Catherine chose what would come to be a ‘go to’ starter for her, a Scottish tradition, Cullen Skink. Cullen Skink is a seafood soup, made with smoked haddock, in a white broth. We came to learn that it comes in many iterations, with every chef putting his or her own stamp on it. This was Catherine’s first bowl, and she fell in love with it immediately. I selected a Scottish seafood sampler, which contained a large shrimp, a small cold salmon fillet, 2 different versions of smoked salmon, smoked mackerel and pickled herring. Lots of my favorite things, and it was a pure delight. Catherine opted for an upscale version of fish & chips, featuring a substantial fillet of breaded halibut, with peas and French fries, which she devoured. I chose roasted scallops with a ½ lobster tail, which perfectly hit the spot. (See photos). Service was done in group style, with a number of different servers working with us, and everyone was pleasant and upbeat, and knowledgeable about the menu options. After an evening stroll back down the hill to the Balmoral Hotel, we agreed that it was a great start to our Scottish dining journey!More

The food here is delicious but unfortunately when it comes to allergies this restaurant is at best abysmal and at the worst unsafe. Visited recently with a friend who is coeliac and I have a celery allergy. They brought us a menu with all the...allergies listed on it. When we asked if we could have one menu each (we were at opposite ends of the table so sharing the menu was difficult) we were told there was only one for the whole restaurant. It turns out that not only was the allergy menu out of date but there was virtually nothing on it that my coeliac friend could have. One of the celery free options that I could have was served with caponata (which usually has celery in it) so I double checked with the server and guess what????......the celery free option contained celery. Now I dont have a life threatening allergy but if you do I would urge you not to go near this restaurant.More

Booked on a Saturday evening while visiting Edinburgh for the weekend. Walked past the restaurant and we were attracted by the clean and appealing frontage. The menu looked good and considering the type of food offered, prices were reasonable. From arrival to leaving we cannot...fault either choice, service, ambience or most importantly the quality and quantity of food. Everything was fresh as described and the cooking of everything was spot on. Best scallops I have ever eaten. Impressed I could buy Pouilly Fumee by the glass and at a reasonable price. Will definitely return when in Edinburgh again and recommend to anyone visiting.More

I still had a voucher for this restaurant from my last year’s birthday. As I have previously been to the Fishers in Leith, it made good sense to try the City Fishers an’ all, on a relatively quiet Wednesday night. After starters, my partner had...a trout with pesto, whereas I opted for the seafood platter. What a meal that was-a huge dish chock-full of mussels, scallops, oysters, razor clams, langoustines and half a lobster, with chips on the side. It certainly left me replete. The disadvantage was that it took me half an hour to scoff it all, during which time my girl-friend was unoccupied. We had a bottle of Riesling and topped off the victuals with whisky and port. Then, the waiter, or possibly owner, humbly asked us to move tables as there had been a mix-up in bookings; as a token of good-will, he did not charge us for the wine and spirits. Jolly nice: the meal for two ended up considerably cheaper than anticipated. This is definitely a good restaurant for us ichthyophiles. Service was tickety-boo.More

Fishers was recommended to us by friends who had traveled to Edinburgh several years ago. It is primarily a seafood place. We made our reservations through e-mail several months before our trip, and the staff was responsive and sent us a reminder of the reservation...the morning of. Fishers is an intimate place with a large selection of appetizers, entrees and desserts. The waitstaff is attentive (but not overly).More

In the middle of the New Town of Edinburgh, we eat a marvelous plate of Scottish seafood cooked in different ways and a variation of the traditional fish and chips with fried prawns. A fantastic taste and service!

Totally overrated, only the raw produce is good, everything we ate that was cooked lacked taste. The fishcakes where mushy, no seasoning, not crispy. The panko fried squid only tasted of the breading and oil, the squid died for nothing. The tuna tartar was a...tiny portion of tuna on a blob of avocado, the seasoning mainly lemon. And a mixed salad of the size of a cappuccino for 4£, shameless.More

I think the cheapest is about £18. Lots below £25. You can get a set menu at lunch so more to spend on wine :-)
