We went in on a whim and had relatively modest expectations as it doesn't look like much from the outside - but the food is sensational, a real underestimation. Would definitely recommend and come again. Excellent.

We had a range of food, from vegan to meaty, and it was all delicious and very flavorful - like the best I've had in India! Good, attentive service too. Highly recommended.

We hadn't booked a table but they managed to squeeze us in. Absolutely amazing food. We were both very pleased with our food and would highly recommend here for food.

We stayed overnight in Edinburgh and I looked on Internet for Indian places to eat. This restaurant is on Cockburn St, just off the Royal mile. We had to wait but this was no problem we had a pint in a nearby bar. We were eventually allocated a table and we were not disappointed the curries were well flavoured and... More

Another place we found on Tripadvisor and we took advice and booked early. We were here on a 6 nations weekend and it was very very busy. But the staff were excellent and had us seated quickly. Every table was full in the place and as soon as one entered the next filled. One couple arrived without a reservation and... More

I went for dinner. I had a deliciously spiced lamb starter, a cauliflower and potato main, which was just as good, accompanied by a truly excellent naan. When a restaurant does the little things that we'll, you feel that you are onto a winner. Pleasant staff, and reasonable prices complete a good meal.

We were up for a new Indian restaurant and found Gurkha. Solid service and excellent food. Given the crowd in the restaurant it must have a good following. Right mount of spice, lots to pick from and good service. Will definitely head back the next time I am in EDI

Set right at the bottom of a great walk up through the old section of the city. It's a small restaurant that takes pride in their service. The meals took a long time to reach our tables but when they arrived, they were worth the wait. The dishes that we ordered oozed with flavor and tastes that made it a great... More

Pleasant lunch of chicken pakora and mixed appetizer plate. Nice quality with pleasant spice. Found the Everest beer to be a bit watery. Not my favourite beer, but that is a matter of taste. Recommended.

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
