Had time on my hands waiting for my connecting train after returning from London. Decided to spend my time in here. Three people serving but because they were more interested in chatting to each other service was sooo slow. Several people waiting eventually walked out. Charged £4.80 for a pint of lager. I thought I was back in London. Most... More

Pub has had a makeover. Looks good. However, at over £6 for a gin and tonic I didn't expect to be financing it personally!! Gents still stinks too!!

Like hundreds of others (well it seemed like hundreds) I popped in for a pint while waiting for my train. When I arrived there were 4 people waiting to be served. One person serving and another receiving instructions on how to use the till. Two staff came out of the kitchen and wandered around collecting glasses even though there weren't... More

Great wee spot for a drink with Waverley Station. Staff were friendly and up for a chat. Nice place to people watch while having a cold one before your train. Definitely visiting again!

Wanted lunch and drinks while waiting for our train. Service was so slow, we nearly missed it! But the worst thing was a totally inedible hamburger: a square piece of tasteless rubber. The fish and chips was average. It is very conveniently located and quite charming. If they get their act together in terms of service and food quality, they... More

The Nor' Loch is right in the heart of Waverley Station so one good thing about it is its location - if you want a drink or food whilst waiting for a train it is right there. There are a few outside tables but these are in a large waiting area, overlooking seating and the numerous travelers passing by and... More

Popped in here before a long train journey - worst customer service experienced in Edinburgh. Bar man almost threw my coffee at me, and fresh orange juce was room tempetature. I asked for ice & the member of staff tipped ice in to the point where the glass overflowed and dripped all the way to our table. Dirty cups, and... More

Nice little pub on Waverley station. Fair range of beers and the food menu looked good. I didn't try the burger but it looked good. I love the feel of station bars and this is a good one.

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighborhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
