I really enjoyed my breakfast here. The cafe itself is quite spacious and nicely laid out. The staff are friendly and attentive. My coffee was the best that I have had in the UK thus far. I also had the "Cajun Benny" which was a delicious dish. The flavours were balanced beautifully with the perfect amount of spice. I also... More

Every time I try to think of a casual place to sit down, grab a coffee and some food and sometimes get some work done, Loudons has always been on my mind. Great, personal service, breakfast to die for and delicious coffee.

Went for brunch for the second time to Loudons, and thoroughly enjoyed our very generously portioned full Scots breakfast. Juices are fresh and delicious, and staff friendly and helpful. The restaurant is busy, but has a very pleasant atmosphere. On departure we did take note of the cakes on offer.......we will pop by for coffee and cake sometime soon!

Really had high hopes for this place after looking over the menu. The breakfast roll was the best thing we had. Pancakes were tiny and even the server wasn't 100% sure we had gotten what we ordered. Service was slow and erratic. The place isn't cheap and I felt the value was poor. With better service I would give it... More

Fantastic breakfast would recommend the French toast with thick slices of homemade bread and crispy bacon the freshly squeezed orange juice to die for, definitely set you up for a day of sightseeing in the city. Plenty of friendly staff and prompt service during the breakfast rush. Would recommend you to try if you are in the area.

I came in here as I've always walked past and wanted to come in. Only came in for a tea, which was lovely and the decor is fab. However, i also tried their coconut hot chocolate which was so disappointing as i had great expectations for this - it was lacking in flavour and was very weak. The white chocolate... More

I have written many reviews on Loudons but I haven't visited for a while since we now have a dog but I met a friend for breakfast and realised how much I missed there Eggs Benedict - best breakfast by far in this part of town.

Had breakfast here with a friend. Excellent food and great service. We were seated next to the window which was lovely, but the sunshine was making the spot very hot (for once in Scotland) and our waitress informed us that if at any point it started getting too much we could swop tables. We actually swopped right then and there... More

I think I died and went to breakfast heaven. Warm welcome by the host, seated straight away despite the queue (waiting for large tables). Beautiful cloudy apple juice and great latte, strong and with lovely latte art started us off on the right foot. My partner had the full Scottish breakfast which looked lovely, with particularly amazing toast. He'd probably... More

Staying at Mercure just around the corner from Loudons. Great atmosphere, large and busy cafe with excellent staff. Thoroughly recommend their choices of Eggs Benedict and their veggie full breakfast (although I'm no veggie). Home-made sausages, beans, gluten free tattie scones, bread etc. Their brekkies set you up for the day. Can't fault the place.

Hi, What can we say other than thank you for this great review! We like to think we have the best breakfast in the whole of Edinburgh but we'll take the Haymarket crown for now! Description
We are an independent family run and family friendly cafe and bakery. Freshly made is our hallmark....everything is made daily including soups, salads, quiches, pizza, bread and cakes.
Uncompromising in our coffee beans supplied by Artisan Roast and our loose leaf teas from Pekoe Tea.

We serve up one of the best breakfasts and all day Weekend brunches in town and are famed for our Eggs Benny.

We feel that customers with food intolerances should not have to put up with bland choices and pride ourselves in creating interesting and tasty cakes, bread, soups etc. that can be enjoyed by vegans, vegetarians and coeliacs alike.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
