Absolutely amazing. Small but varied menu. Great choice for vegan and gluten free. Excellent friendly service. Not badly priced for what's on offer. The vegan tarragon mayo and vegan pancakes deserve a special mention!

This Café and Bakery is probably the best breakfast meal I have ever experienced, so much so that we returned three times for breakfast over the weekend we were in Edinburgh. Fantastic food with a very friendly staff and an extensive choice of food available. If you are going be prepared to wait a this place is very popular, but... More

Went for breakfast Sunday morning before setting off home after rugby weekend. We were there quite early but it soon started filling up and it's easy to understand why. Being a lover of eggs benedict the was no way I could go for anything else. We had and avocado and bacon and a chorizo and black pudding and shared. Both... More

Came here everyday during our short trip in Edinburgh, twice for cooked breakfast and once for tea and cake. Lovely breakfast with great quality food and decent portions - best poached egg I've had in a cafe! Delicious coffee and tea and amazing cakes - would recommend the banana and caramel. Good service if occasionally a bit slow, but very... More

Loudon's was recommended to us and so we went for breakfast on our first morning in Edinburgh. The queue was literally out of the door which we thought was a good sign. Service was friendly and reasonably speedy although we did wait a very long time to get our bill. We visited because they have a good reputation for gluten... More

Hi there, Thank you very much for your review! Our service team work very hard to ensure that the queue is being looked after almost as well as our guests at tables but ultimately should always be friendly and with a big smile! It's great to hear that you enjoyed our GF options so much that you wanted to return.... More

I visited recently for brunch, we felt it was worth going as there were queues out the door every time we walked past. So we came on Sunday morning full expecting the queue but it wasn't so bad and were seated reasonably quickly. I had the French toast with bacon and syrup which was tasty but I couldn't eat it... Hi there and thank you for your review. Whilst there are many reviews saying that we are a busy place at the weekend (and they're right) that doesn't mean we don't strive to get guests seated in as little time as possible - perhaps a little luck was on your side! All of our food and most of our drinks... More

I came for lunch at Loudons, I passed this café a few times before and it always looked very busy so I was excited to try it out. The waitress was friendly and helpful, always asking us if we needed anything and explained everything well. I order a pulled pork bun, the pork and salad was tasty. They specially made... More

We walked past Loudons, looking for somewhere to eat breakfast and noticed a lot of smiling faces in the big windows, from the people working there and the people eating. Whilst checking the menu outside, a couple walked past us, going in and recommended to come in and try the food! We were very lucky, there was no queue and... More

Okay place for coffee but too loud to conduct a business networking meeting. Food okay, limited menu.

Hi there, Thanks for your review, It's great to hear that you enjoy our coffee. Loudons can get very busy but during the week, we have lots of different meetings going on - business and social. The building was designed with sound in mind so admittedly there are better places to sit. In the future, we would urge you to... More

We are an independent family run and family friendly cafe and bakery. Freshly made is our hallmark....everything is made daily including soups, salads, quiches, pizza, bread and cakes.
Uncompromising in our coffee beans supplied by Artisan Roast and our loose leaf teas from Pekoe Tea.

We serve up one of the best breakfasts and all day Weekend brunches in town and are famed for our Eggs Benny.

We feel that customers with food intolerances should not have to put up with bland choices and pride ourselves in creating interesting and tasty cakes, bread, soups etc. that can be enjoyed by vegans, vegetarians and coeliacs alike.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
