The breakfast at Loudons was great and it was nice to have gluten free options as I am a coeliac. My only suggestion would be to make clear the substitutions to the breakfast to make it gluten free - I was a little disappointed when vegetarian sausages replaced meat sausages without any prior warning! With so many other delicious items... More

Pit stop breakfast while attending shows at Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The Eggs Benedict are nothing short of excellent. I also enjoyed good freshly squeezed orphanage juice and importantly very good tea. The Wifi was good so catching up on work emails was easy. Good prompt service was just what I needed as I set out for a busy day.

Visited Loudons on a Sunday morning during the Fringe Festival. It was not surprising that we had a short wait before getting seated. The food was absolutely amazing!! All 8 of us really enjoyed our brunch. We had different variations of eggs benedict (e.g. Bacon and avocado, pulled pork, crayfish....). The American style pancakes with bacon, baked banana and maple... More

Hi there and thank you for your eggstremely lovely review, Your review has managed to really highlight some of the best things about our menu so thank you very much for being thorough! Our Eggs Benedict are (and maybe always will be) our speciality here but the caramel banana pancakes are a great example of the variation we offer too!... More

Having read the reviews and looked into Loudons on line we thought what a great place for breakfast. The place itself is lovely and the staff are really friendly. On arriving we were still confident of getting a gluten free breakfast by reading the signs. We ordered a full breakfast and we were reassured we'd get the gluten free version.... More

Whilst visiting Edinburgh for the Fringe, we went to Loudons for brunch on Sunday. It had a very inviting decor with friendly staff, we got shown to a table immediately upon arrival. The poached eggs were wonderful and my sister said the iced coffee was the best that she had ever had. I would definitely return if I ever find... More

I was staying nearby and came here for brekfast a few times. I was always greated with a smile and seated right away. The service was quick and the food was amazing. The eggs were always poached, fried or scrambled to perfection. Loved the coffee and tea as well. One day I had a sweet tooth and tried the chocolate... More

Had a lovely breakfast here (scrambled eggs on toast with avocado and bacon - amended something on the menu to tick all the boxes for me - and it was no problem at all). Hubby had a Loudons Full Breakfast, he especially liked the home made baked beans (and he is a very fussy eater). Can't fault it at all,... More

We had a delightful breakfast. Most pleased with the very freshly pressed orange juice, the homemade marmalade and the scones. The server was very helpful. Prices were reasonable

Hi there, Thank you for such a lovely review! All of our menu items are cooked/created from fresh ingredients and that includes our marmalade which is made in Dunbar by the family behind Loudons. Thanks as well for mentioning the service, they work very hard on being the final part of the Loudons experience! Best regards, Team Loudons More

We are an independent family run and family friendly cafe and bakery. Freshly made is our hallmark....everything is made daily including soups, salads, quiches, pizza, bread and cakes.
Uncompromising in our coffee beans supplied by Artisan Roast and our loose leaf teas from Pekoe Tea.

We serve up one of the best breakfasts and all day Weekend brunches in town and are famed for our Eggs Benny.

We feel that customers with food intolerances should not have to put up with bland choices and pride ourselves in creating interesting and tasty cakes, bread, soups etc. that can be enjoyed by vegans, vegetarians and coeliacs alike.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
