I phoned on the Saturday to book for Sunday but was told no bookings. I was a bit worried when we turned up at 10.30 am it were seated within less than 10 mins. Food was very nice and service friendly and efficient. Was surprised that despite it being full that it wasn't too noisy and a really nice atmosphere.... More

Went today (Saturday). No queue. The menu is fairly limited. Ordered American pancakes. They weren't cooked properly. Soggy in middle. Drenched in syrup. Plate was swimming in it. American pancakes should be served with streaky , crispy bacon. Coke is pretentious bottled stuff that tastes of ginger. Nice but not coke. They've jumped on the gluten free vegan blah blah... More

Very busy place, as there were only 2 of us sat on the high tables which were surprisingly comfortable. Pleasant serving staff. Lots of gluten free choices.

The reviews plus the queue we saw the previous day made us come back specially to experience this restaurant. But I we were not very impressed. Two things that stuck in our minds in particular was 1) The baked beans was not great –as that was the only thing the 3 year old in our party wanted and he redused... More

Visiting with two children on a busy Sunday. Seated -with a choice. Exceptionally clean, including a spotless highchair. How often do you get that? Beautiful veggie breakfast. Homemade baked beans. Super! Children both had French toast. Normal sized portion. Staff very helpful and attentive.'

I had breakfast couple of times there. the staff is cheerful and they are fast. location was a bit far from City center, around 40 minutes walk from Edinburgh's Dungeon. I did not enjoy the full breakfast as much as I did by ordering Egg benedict. the gluten free pancakes was ok too

I came here on several occasions with some friends and this place never disappointed. The food and service is exceptional, fresh ingredients, stylish food and very unique (try their porridge soaked in orange juice - amazing!!). Recommend this place if you are in the area and will certainly come back when in Edinburgh.

Except I love gluten. So, if you are like me, you may want to go for the muffins and pastries with gluten. Otherwise the food was very good. Busy on a Saturday morning and service was commensurately slow, but friendly. Great breakfast spot.

Hi and thanks! It was a pleasure to read your review due to it exploiting both sides of what we do here. We do indeed cater for people with lots of different intolerances/preferences but we try not to forget about the good old 'regular' options being as delicious as possible too. We are a popular place come the weekends however... More

We are an independent family run and family friendly cafe and bakery. Freshly made is our hallmark....everything is made daily including soups, salads, quiches, pizza, bread and cakes.
Uncompromising in our coffee beans supplied by Artisan Roast and our loose leaf teas from Pekoe Tea.

We serve up one of the best breakfasts and all day Weekend brunches in town and are famed for our Eggs Benny.

We feel that customers with food intolerances should not have to put up with bland choices and pride ourselves in creating interesting and tasty cakes, bread, soups etc. that can be enjoyed by vegans, vegetarians and coeliacs alike.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
