We are an independent family run and family friendly cafe and bakery. Freshly made is our hallmark....everything is made daily including soups, salads, quiches, pizza, bread and cakes.
Uncompromising in our coffee beans supplied by Artisan Roast and our loose leaf teas from Pekoe Tea.

We serve up one of the best breakfasts and all day Weekend brunches in town and are famed for our Eggs Benny.

We feel that customers with food intolerances should not have to put up with bland choices and pride ourselves in creating interesting and tasty cakes, bread, soups etc. that can be enjoyed by vegans, vegetarians and coeliacs alike.

Delicious gluten free bakery items

I'm a recently diagnosed coeliac, so finding Loudon's was wonderful! They have a wide selection of gluten free options, but I also return for the polenta raspberry cake. It's also a nice place with Wifi where I feel I can go sit and work for a few hours and I don't feel like I'm taking up a table... read more

Popped in here for a coffee and found a lovely, spacious cafe with a great atmosphere. Coffee and scones were lovely, service was quick and friendly and menu looked great - lots of gluten free options too. Looking forward to going back for brunch next time. Not the cheapest place but well worth it.

It's been open for 5 years but I just discovered this place: a real pleasure. Relaxing room - lots of space, big glass windows, light airy and welcoming. Quiet - no music: FANTASTIC. No shouty big parties or anti-social phone users. Also, surprisingly, no screaming babies or unsupervised toddlers - all super-welcome first thing in the morning. We came for... More

My husband and I enjoyed breakfast here! I had the bacon and avocado eggs Benedict and my husband had the American pancakes - both were delicious. I also had a mocha and that was great. Staff were attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was great!

Firstly the space - amazing, airy, spacious. Scandinavian feel about it. Relaxed buzz. Selection of seating including leather sofa area - lovely. Staff friendly and efficient. Food tasty and offers a wide selection including great veggie options. Would gladly eat here again and try the vast selection of baked goods next time.

My family and I stumbled upon this place at the recommendation of our hotel. We were so surprised that the coffee was some of The best we have ever had. We even stopped in later in the afternoon to have another cup. We also enjoyed their pancakes and eggs Benedict!

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
