We ate at this Italian restaurant on a Saturday night, having previously visited 3 years ago. The welcome was warm and friendly but neither the food nor the atmosphere was as we remembered it. 3 years ago the place was heaving and lively as an Italian restaurant should be. This time it was half full and flat. Change of management?

Lovely wee restaurant set below street level and decorated in a way that gives it a relaxed and cosy feel. The food was delicious and my fish was perfectly cooked. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Would recommend this restaurant and will be going back next time in Edinburgh.

Went here as part of a large group (2nd night of hen weekend). We were sooooo well looked after, the guys just couldn't do enough for us. All different dishes chosen, and everything was gorgeous!! But, the very best part was the serenading of the hen by the staff...impromptu dancing and carry on absolutely made our night.

Small basement restaurant, dining area, tiny bar, small open kitchen so that you can see the food prep and cooking, on the night we were there two cooks, two waiters. We were well looked after by the friendly staff and the food is very good. Much better than a lot of the bigger more expensive Italian restaurants, well worth a... More

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
