We have eaten here twice in the last month with visitors to the fringe. There is no booking available, but both times we only waited 15 mins max and service very slick. We had starters to share , lovely humous, tabouleh and falafel with bread. Then lamb kebabs, chicken kebabs and lamb cutlets. First visit the lamb was succulent and... More

We visited during the festival month. The restaurant wasn't taking bookings but we only had a 20 minute wait at peak time. The restaurant doesn't serve alcohol but the good news is that you can bring your own beer/wine from local stores ready chilled! The food is authentic eastern Mediterranean an we had superb koftas and chicken skewers with salads.... More

Enjoyed the meal. Expected more of a meze type menu but all of our party enjoyed our food. Particularly enjoyed the smokey baba ghanoush but could have done with more bread. Mains were tasty and good portions but could have done with more sauce for the mixed grill. Great Lebanese coffee to finish. BYOB keeps the costs down.

I have had a few deliveries from Berlin. Two of those late and cold. Such a shame as food I think would be great if hot and cold halloumi ain't great. This was a fairly expensive delivery with a delivery charge so I would expect hot food especially in a small city like Edinburgh . Was assured when I phoned... More

The service was friendly and efficient. But the food was bland and a little overpriced. Disappointing after seeing such good reviews on here. The customer next to us also expressed her concerns about the lack of flavour to her waiter.

Great service with knowledgeable waiter on the tastes. Inexpensive as it is a byob. Great opportunity to try an authentic Lebanese mezze. For something different I'd recommend this as a great way to spend a few hours

Visited between shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival having done well here last year. Took a risk queuing for 20 minutes but the regular updates from the staff reassured us that we would not be late. Chose our food from the conveniently placed menu on the wall outside so we were ready to order as soon as we sat down... More

So...very popular and busy restaurant in a student heartland and therefore Festivals central. Not very big and fairly basic but very friendly staff. Efficient doesn't really explain it...too quick really. So much of the meat must be ready. That said we enjoyed the food ...especially some of the spicy salad sides. The sausage sandwich kebabs were tasty but not very... More

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighborhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighborhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
