A dinner with a difference! Lovely to try such a great selection of Lebanese specialities served in a lovely warm ambience with friendly staff. If you enjoy trying new cuisine this is definitely for you.

I have been to Beirut several times now and have recommended it to so many people. The food is amazing! It's so fresh and tasty. The service is great, I was recently here with my mum and we only had 40 mins to eat as we were off to the ballet at the festival theatre. We told the waiter and... More

I visited Beirut with a bunch of 5 (very noisy) girls last Thursday 22nd December 16. It's 1 of only 5 halal places in Edinburgh which we were impressed with. The food was scrummy, mainly chicken shawarmas all round. Baclava and mint tea to finish off was a touch. Service was good but not amazing, waiters weren't always attentive but... More

Really enjoyed first and last course of our meal. But been disappointed with mix meats for main, as all meat was dry and hard to chew.

We were impressed with the relaxed, carefree atmosphere and good service. Food was delicious and portions were generous. Wide choice of starters and mains and most come with tasty bread portions. This was our first taste of Lebanese cuisine and it was so good that it won't be our last.

Never disappointed at this friendly, family run Lebanese restaurant. The food is delicious, freshly made and suits all tastes - vegetarians, vegans, meat eaters. Cannot recommend Beirut more highly ... and we go very often !

My friend and I came here on a rainy night and were immediately warmed by the atmosphere. The waitstaff were pleasant and friendly, the food was AMAZING (we ended up ordering a second starter of halloumi because it was SO good), the atmosphere was warm, and the price was right. All in all, one of the best meals I've had... More

we went for the set meal for four, every single dish was delicious, plenty of bread to go with it, and no corkage charged. excellent value for money but having had the set meal for two before, think you get more per person with that.

I casually discovered the restaurant. We went in late at night just to have a tea with my girlfriend. As I am Lebanese myself, Youssef insisted to invite us and wouldn't let me pay. It's a pity we were leaving Edinburgh the next day. When I come back, I'll make sure to stop by and taste the delicious Lebanese food... More

the food was cold and the service was dodgy but it was very busy during fringe and I have had better services before the fringe.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighborhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighborhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
