Visited this lovely little tapas bar with 4 work mates, after hearing it was run by family members of an ex colleague. Not a big fan of tapas in general before this visit, but in this place the food, wine, service and the whole experience was not to be missed. Not an empty plate all night, and the eclectic mix... Having lived nearby for several years, we finally made it to Indaba, and it was just as the reviews described. This is a really homely restaurant with some great tapas with a twist. We ordered a mix of about 4 dishes and a cheese plate, which was enough for the two of us with bread. Our favourites included the Gambas... More

Enjoyed a lovely early evening meal at Indaba. We hadn't booked a table ( 5.00pm on a Wednesday) but were squeezed in. Obviously best to reserve in future! Delicious wine, good selection of tapas, great service.

The service is very good and the waiters are funny and sociable. The atmosphere is very simple and essential. The food was simply one of the best in the city, particular cheese, very interesting the pork ribs and the croquette. Dulcis in fundo the wonderful dessert with chocolate inside. Good wine from Spain and South Africa. Go in and enjoy... More

Charming spanish tapas with a south african and scottish twist. Exceptional food. Fully recommend the sea bass, calamari and wors with pap. The bottle of syrah was very palatable.

I have walked passed this place so many times and didn't give it a second glance until my friend recommended it. The menu has tons of great options. We were very taken by the croquettas on the specials menu. Everything was delicious. The owner was also very helpful and gave some excellent recommendations. Remember to leave room for dessert. The... More

Excellent wee tapas restaurant selling an amazing selection of delicious fresh food. Each dish was intricately prepared so if you like tapas style of eating then you will love this place. Eclectic mix of cuisines on offer so this made it even better for trying different foods. Service was impeccable. Only slight criticism would be the uncomfy chairs. Prices were... More

What a find this place is... small, intimate and with amazing food! The tapas here are a little different to the norm, combining Spanish and African elements. We had 6 tapas between 2 people, and we had plenty of food (in fact, could probably have reduced to 5 tapas to allow room for dessert!). The food itself is delicious. The... More

Quirky tapas restau. I don't really get the South African / haggis thing and the choice of wine is very limited, and the prices are a shade high, but ...... the food is beautiful!! Inventive dishes, perfectly cooked. Really good cuisine. A touch pricey.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
