I've been here lots and twice very recently. The staff were so helpful at suggesting foods for us to try and tailoring them to our tastes. Very welcoming and pleasant atmosphere. Even got a few dishes to take away for someone who couldn't make the meal unexpectedly. Thanks all!

We arrived at Omar khayyam without a booking on a busy Friday night but were seated within minutes. Service was amazingly efficient and all the staff were delightful. Food was delicious - a Jaipuri curry and a chicken moghul - and well- presented. Two minor grumbles - poppadoms worked out expensive at £4.75 for 2, and rice was extra to... More

Went here tonight (13/10/16) with my hubby for a meal, very welcoming and friendly staff. Food was amazing, very tasty - Chicken tikka, butter chicken, mushroom rice, peshwari nan. Staff were attentive but not in your face. Will definitely be back.

Waiters are so attentive and up for a laugh, but also so polite! They recommended us some delicious dishes after asking me what type of curry I liked, which was a great idea. And no surprise, best curry ever! Naans and pilau rice also yum, and poppadoms divine. Definitely worth a visit!

We love Indian food and this was the third time we enjoyed Indian food during our Scotland visit. This is very busy restaurant in the Haymarket area. We stopped in without reservations and were seated immediately. Every staff member was extraordinarily friendly and gracious. Service was efficient. The food was just outstanding -- rich in flavor and spice without being... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
