Great food, not the biggest portions but good quality meat. The rice is expensive what the amount you get but all in all enjoyed a very good meal. Will try their carry out service at some point and see how that tastes. Service very quick but don't like 10% service charge being automatically added to a table of 3... Should... More

Quick service and very tasty food. It was more expensive than our normal take away but was very flavoursome.

My wife and I went to this restaurant because of its good reviews. It turned out that the restaurant was very close to the Scottish National Portrait Gallery. The restaurant is small but very tastefully decorated. We had the menu of the day. For starters we had the shrimp and the chicken dishes. Then we asked for a beef dish... More

The food was excellent particularly the crispy duck. Please be careful with anything with chilli in it as the gung po was full of very hot chilli's. The service was polite if not a little over attentive.

We visited during festival time at 17.30 First impressions not great as 5 or 6 waste wheelie bins kept at front walkway right at the door. This is just a bit sloppy for what is aimed at being high end restaurant. However we were shown to table and dining room is very nice. We had the set meal at about... More

This place is alright, I wouldn't say it's absolutely fantastic though. I had chicken satay and it was very bland and tasteless. My partner had crispy shredded chicken in honey sauce, he said it was ok and I had a piece and it was definitely tastier. I would say it's overpriced for what it is all in all. It's like... More

My brother and I were through to Edinburgh checking out the festivities and decided we fancied something nice for dinner. A warm welcome and lovely ambience and layout in the dining room. The food was great and the staff were just lovely, so very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend, definitely the best Chinese food I have had in a while!!

Myself and my mum came for some food after reading the reviews below. We were pleasantly surprised at how attentive the staff were and how flavoursome the food was. Delicious!

I don't like it when reviews write things like 'best Indian in Edinburgh' etc because it's highly unlikely that you've tried them all so I'll add the caveat that it's the Karens Unicorn is the best that I've tried in Edinburgh. I've never actually sat in, I've always collected my order but it's always been hot and fresh and the... More

Arrived early ..about half an hour before opening, having stumbled on this place by accident. We stuck our head round the door which was ajar and were made very welcome even although they were still officially closed. Within 20 minutes (still officially closed) we were called to our table which was beautifully set with prawn crackers waiting. Carafe of ice... More

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
