We were here for a special occasion whilst on a city break to Edinburgh. 15 minutes roughly by taxi. As soon as we arrived the atmosphere inside was chilled but with a nice ambience. Lots of conversations but not at any point too loud that you couldn't hear who you were sat with. Our table wasn't quite ready so we... More

Might have had a higher rating but we ate at the Kitchin the night before and had seafood on Skye the week leading up to it! We saw a couple tucking into a seafood platter and got tempted in. It did not disappoint. We were lucky to get a table, so might be best to book ahead of time. All... More

We went there for lunch and had really an amazing experience, we started with an oyster Bloody Mary, followed with some very fresh clams and closed with an amazingly fresh and tasty fish and chips... Overall an amazing experience with great service and a nice decoration and ambient. Reservation will be recommended.

This restaurant was highly rated by some friends, but we found the seafood and steak ordered to be of a low quality. The seafood platter ordered as a started tasted as though its contents had been in a freezer for a very long time, and my surf n' turf was average at best. Perhaps we were unfortunate and this was... A few years ago I got into a taxi on the Royal Mile and asked to be taken to a good restaurant with a view of the water. This is were I ended up. Once again I returned to Edinburgh but could now direct the taxi out of the Fringe Festival into the quiet warmth of this lovely restaurant. Great... More

Four of us enjoyed a superb seafood lunch from a varied menu with an extensive wine list in relaxed but refined surroundings.

We went for lunch on a weekend trip to Edinburgh. Being huge seafood fans we had high expectations, but the seafood platter did not meet our expectations. The lobster on the platter was beautifully cooked, and the langoustines were full of flavour. However, the platte consisted mostly of mussels which did not seem to be fresh and had an unpleasant... Ship on the Shore is by far our favourite fish restaurant for dinner in Edinburgh – the food is fantastic, the wine list is extensive (plus they do an excellent selection of wines and champagne by the glass) and the atmosphere is informal. The waiting staff are attentive, experienced and knowledgeable and we have never felt rushed, although it can... More

Lunch on Sunday the 14th. Fruits de Mer for 2 could have fed 4 easily and what quality. Cullen Skink soup outstanding and my wife's haddock and chips well presented and very tasty. I had dish of the day roast beef, but this was a bit tough and appeared to be a pre-cooked, pre-heated piece of roast, but is was... More
