We went there for a late lunch after visiting the castle. Good food, the Scottish tapas is highly recommended (not on its own for the bigger appetite) - very tasty. After the meal we sat in the bar area and sampled one or two of the single malts.

We stopped for lunch while waiting for our tour of the Scotch Whisky Experience. I had the soup of the day (Tomato Bisque) and the Roasted Butternut Squash Salad. Delish!

Went here for a well priced delicious meal of Haggis and mashed potato in a whiskey sauce. Staff are very attentive and comforting. For afters we had Scotch at the whiskey bar where the expert bar lady answered all our questions! Toilets are quite clean but could be looked after more. 9.9/10

Went there today, we pre booked to make sure we could get a table. had to wait 20 minutes before ordering food or drinks and that was only because I asked if we could order. I asked for mine to come with the sauce seperate and it came on the meal. Imeadiately rectified. Haggis was very nice and chicken breast... More

I ate here during following a trip to the Scotch Experience on the floor above and after sampling a scotch flight at the bar. We ordered lots of small dishes so we could sample many foods. For appetizers we ordered the tapas and the smoked salmon. Both delicious as the accompanied our four scotches from the different regions well. Then... More

We went here with the package deal combined with a visit to the Whisky experience and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service was the most impressive aspect but the food was very tasty as well. The menu choice is run-of-the-mill Scottish fine dining so if you haven’t sampled this kind of cuisine before then you will love trying the Scottish... More

The restaurant is downstairs from the whisky experience and so could perhaps be overlooked. That would be a mistake: the restaurant serves lovely teas and coffees as well as lunches. It also, of course, has an outstanding whisky bar with hundreds of malts of all prices. For lunch we had soup and smoked salmon and then for main course the... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
