We visited this restaurant due to its reviews online. I must say if you like your meat this is the restaurant for you, You could not fault the steak or the food I had the most gorgeous cheesecake for dessert. It is quite a small restaurant, so if you are claustrophobic stay away. The value for money was good as... More

What can I say? I had the medallions and it was out of this world. Amazing! They accommodated us without a booking and nothing was too much trouble. Just go there now!

First class food and service. A perfect choice for meat lovers. Large choice of starters and main courses. Cooked to order. Good portions. Not overly expensive considering the quality

We were given the details of this steakhouse by a local friend and it didn't disappoint. We went there for a long weekend and came back twice to this restaurant. It was amazing I would highly recommend this place.

Myself and my partner were in Edinburgh for the week end and chose to go to McKirdy's Steakhouse for our dinner on the Friday night. Well what can I say......cannot fault this place at all, from the text message booking reminder to receiving our bill, the service here was amazing. We were seated straight away, order was taken promptly and... More

A real steakhouse in the heart of town. Good menu, option for pan fried or char grilled. Lovely black pudding, haggis and top quality beef. Tables a little cramped but overall very impressed. BYOB a good option as well. Will be back!

I'm a big fan of steak. So my standards are quite high. Probably. I chose McKirdy's purely on the basis of the Trip Advisor reviews for an early evening family meal. The staff we great; friendly, attentive and happy to explain the menu and choices for cooking steak etc. The food was good. Not exceptional. Not amazing. We tried a... More

Although it's a little our of the city centre it is well worth a visit! The service was great, fast and friendly. Our waiter was really happy to answer any questions we had about the food and even advised us on which whisky to try- considering none of us were big whisky drinkers (and his recommendations were excellent). The food... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
