Have been here several times and there has been nothing that fails to impress- good food, good atmosphere, great service and friendly staff. Despite the name, the restaurant does offer some limited non-meat options e.g. risotto and sea food (sea bass was a ‘special’ when...More

My concierge pointed me to mckirdys when I said “lamb”; said he had the best steak of his life there just a few weeks ago. It was quiet, not fancy, but comfortable. Had only the rack of lamb with potatoes and some arugula. Delic. The...More

Friendly, genuine neighborhood steakhouse a little outside the center of Edinburgh. If you've gotten used to dining in places that seem to mainly cater to tourists this is a refreshing change. Service was friendly but a little slow to notice when we needed something. Beer...More

If you enjoy steak, I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Reasonably priced for this quality of steak. I honestly don't remember a better steak than the Rib-eye I ate last night. Very friendly staff too. Owned by local butchers. Wow!

Ambience terrible. Interior similar to a service station. Sat by the toilet and asked to move but our request was declined. Sub Wetherspoons food for three times the price. No idea how this 'restaurant' has such good reviews. Very basic, uninspiring food. One positive, staff...More

We had a great family evening at McKirdy's. The staff are really friendly and made us feel very welcome. The restaurant is quite small which gives it a nice atmosphere. The menu has a good variety of steaks, burgers and chicken etc all at a...More

West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in
industrial Britain had their most desirable
neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes.
Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest
citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind
grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel
crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and
sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along
