My husband and I were recently vacationing in Scotland and were looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate our 15th anniversary. My husband found Wildfire online and it had excellent reviews so we called for a reservation. It was amazing! Off the beaten path on Rose Street, an adorable row of restaurants. It was small and intimate and the food... More

My wife and I returned to Wildfire on a recent trip to Edinburgh. On previous visits, we have selected our meals from the a la carte menu and found them to be of excellent quality. On this occasion, we sampled the lunchtime table d'hote menu, since there were items on it we both liked. We were both amazed that the... More

We went twice in four nights. We recommend reservations because they turn a lot of people away. I ordered the sea bream. I was debating getting a plate of steamed clams or mussels to start. It is a good thing I didn't, as the sea bream came with between 1 and a half and 2 dozen steamed mussels and clams.... More

Glad we booked. It was packed the night we visited, and with good reason. The food and service were both excellent. In particular the steak was delicious; perfectly seasoned and grilled to the exact level of doneness that I enjoy.

I took my Mum here during a weekend visit in May and the food and service were great, so I decided to bring hubby recently as we were both in Edinburgh on business. The place was very busy, which is always a good sign. The weather was good and people were able to enjoy the outside tables. We didn't have... More

I went to this place attracted by the reviews i read before visiting Edinburgh. Even if I didn't have a booking (recommended in case you go) I could sit in the terrace thanks to the beautiful weather. Service was really fast and most importantly the quality of the food (a rib-eye steak in my case) was really excellent

Located in the pedestrian area, down town Edinburgh. The place is not very big, thus it gives an intimate atmosphere. They had an interesting looking sea food platter as well, but I think most here opt for steak. The quality of the meat is very good and comes with chips and salad, but there is a variety of side dishes... More

Wildfire is in the heart of Edinburgh on a quieter walk street. We wanted a good lunch in a non-touristy place. What we got was surprisingly delicious, fresh seafood in a tiny bistro. The service was delightful, our server could not have been more charming or helpful and made us feel welcome even though we were on the later side... More

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
