We visited on a Wednesday afternoon in August whilst the Festival was in full effect in the town. The Bar has a great location, downhill and sufficiently distanced from the madness of the Royal Mile to have enough comfy and welcome seats both inside and...out after a days battling through the crowds. The Bar does a good selection of Pakora, curry and dhal, but the deal at£15 was exactly what we needed. 3 Pakora+salad from a wide selection then curry and rice/naan. Haggis Pakora? Yes!!! The butter chicken was creamy with a little heat but the punjabi was firier and I wolfed it down with some extra rice. I'd thoroughly recommend their mango infused IPA which looks like a pint of lassi but tastes great after a days mooching. Note... Eating before attempting Arthur's Seat which is just around the corner is *not* recommended 😉 walk THEN eatMore

We were visiting for the festival but I had done a bit of research beforehand as my daughter has a gluten intolerance and it can be tricky to find good places to eat. Tucked just behind the Royal Mile towards the Holyrood end, The Pakora...Bar is a fantastic family run restaurant, very welcoming and the food was amazing with many GF dishes and plenty of Veggie options too. The Pakora are the star, we had 3 different types but we also had some dahl and rice too which was also very tasty. We will definitely be back next time we are in town.More

Found it by chance and were really glad we did. Food was excellent, the pakoras especially. When we’re next in Edinburgh we’ll be back. Highly recommended!!

Overall... decent food and attentive service. They have an interesting "veg haggis" pakora that I'd get for the novelty! They also have their own beer: Chakk de Phatte IPA - Double fruited Mango lassi IPA. It is worth getting... also for novelty's sake. Note: their...chole was very disappointing. I'd skip that.More

My wife and I visited the Pakora Bar on 27th July. The food and service was fantastic. We started with mixed pakora, all of the selections (made by the chef) were delicious, but special mention goes to the Aubergine and the Cauliflower. We kept thinking...that each new pakora we tried would be our favourite, only for it to be surpassed on the next choice. The batter was lovely and crisp and the fillings full of flavour. We then had Butter Chicken Curry and a Punjabi Chicken Curry with rice and Nan. Curries were full of flavour and the chicken was cooked to perfection (as was the chicken in the chicken pakora). The service was very friendly and helpful, with loads of information and suggestions. Big thank you to Mark for sharing the family history, his enthusiasm for Punjabi food was a joy to hear.More

Hey there, folks! I just had a solid time at The Pakora Bar in Edinburgh, and I gotta say, it was pretty darn good! The place had this cool, modern vibe that I really dug. It's perfect for hanging out with friends or having a...casual date night. The staff was friendly, and they made us feel welcome from the get-go. Now, let's talk about the real deal - the food! Oh boy, the pakoras were on point! Crispy, flavorful, and just the right amount of spice. I couldn't get enough of them! We tried a bunch of different ones, and they were all bomb. They had some other Indian street food items on the menu too, and everything we tried was yummy. The samosas were delicious, and the chutneys they served with them were a perfect match. And don't even get me started on their mango lassi – it was pure bliss in a glass! The only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five is that the service was a tad slow. It wasn't a big deal, but it would have been nice to get our food a bit quicker. But hey, good things come to those who wait, right? Overall, The Pakora Bar is a must-visit if you're into tasty Indian snacks and a relaxed vibe. I'd totally recommend swinging by with your crew and munching on some seriously flavorful treats. Just be ready to chill and take your time – it's totally worth it!More

Wonderful Indian food in beautiful Edinburgh. Just off the Royal Mile, a nice haven away from the crowds but still an easy walk. Food was delicious - we had Pakora which are all sorts of fritters with different additions as well as the traditional curries...for lunch. Excellent service and super friendly wait staff and owners. Highly recommend.More

Later in evening after a full day out, we were very hungry and after googling restaurants in the area which were all overpriced.. thought urgh we'd just go for a walk and hey presto found The Pakora Bar and thought ooh this looks pretty on...the outside and interesting and oh look its packed with customers which is always a good sign! Went in and were immediately given a friendly greeting, asked for a table for two and as one had just been vacated it was cleaned to perfection and re-laid for us within one minute... Wow! Owner came over and spoke us thru the menu and tailored it to our needs and tastes at no extra cost. Can thoroughly recommend the fish and chicken pakoras. The butter chicken and the absolutely melt in the mouth punjabi lamb curry. Can't comment on the desserts as we were totally stuffed 😂. The decor is tasteful, the music not so loud that you can't have a conversation, the service was excellent, and the owner chatted to us afterwards and told us all about his family business. The kitchen is open so you can see everything being prepared. The menus are recyclable, the tin plates, dishes and water cups are environmentally friendly and authentic for a wonderful street food experience. They also do take aways (they were very busy with this as well all the time we were there) and also they have a beautifully decked out function room with portable bar up the lovely spiral staircase. When we find ourselves back in Edinburgh again we will most certainly pay a visit to here. Wish a Pakora Bar could be opened up in Elgin as we'd be eating there at least once if not more a week. Well done everyone in the family it was a joy to visit. We will be back. Martin and Fe xxxMore

7 STARS!! 5 is not enough to capture what I experienced! This was probably the best Punjabi food I have had in years! We liked the food so much that we visited the place 2 times out of our 3 days in Edinburgh, and took...food with us for the journey back to London. We tried their Veg Mix pakoras, Paneer Kathi Roll, Punjabi Kadhi Pakora curry, Chole Bhatura, Rajma Chawal, Ras Malai and Massala Chai from the menu, and Aloo Tikki Chaat from the hidden menu! I have no idea what was in the Veggie Haggis, or, that you can make pakoras out of Aubergine! They were freshly made and didn't even need a chutney. The Kadhi Pakora was one of the best I've ever tasted! These people know their spices! The Aloo Tikki Chaat was so fresh and cooked beautifully! (Ask for Veeru for this secret item when you go to the restaurant) The Chole Bhature, Massala Chai and Paneer Kathi Roll were fantastic! We really enjoyed talking to the owners! We are definitely coming back! Thank you for the homely experience!More
