Went to Tiger Lilly for some cocktails and they were amazing! Sydney was even more amazing because she shared her experience of moving to Scotland as an American ex-pat. She had great service and a sweet spirit! Would definitely go back just to visit with her!

Sat in the front bar, lovely surroundings, friendly and helpful staff. Not the cheapest bar in town but nice surroundings for a drink.

Visited this restaurant will 10 friends. Had the private dining room that was not particularly private. The waitress was very nice and pleasant. The food though was not good, steak was very cold chips were hard just not good. Was very disappointed.

Lovely place, nice staff. Sydney couldn't have done more for us. Only negative, we waited over an hour for food with very hungry children.

Visiting from southern california. Tigerlily's was a great way to start an evening out. Patty was an incredible server and even gave us great recommendations for local bars to check out afterwards. Great food and ambiance. Highly recommend.

I had an amazing experience at the Tigerlily bar. The atmosphere was amazing and our server "Kimon" made the experience that much better. He was attentive, fast, always willing to help with a smile and very friendly. It felt more like a friendship than being served. He is so kind and delivers truly amazing service. If you are visiting Edinburgh... More

This is not our first visit here as we do visit Edinburgh on a regular basis and TL is a favourite stop for us. Once again we weren't let down. The food was great, as was the wine and service ( thanks Stef). We will definitely be back.

Pleasant waitress. Lovely surroundings. However we were not offered our tea until half way through our afternoon tea! This was a little disappointng, possibly due to the staff being busy. We were asked politely to leave as they needed our table at 5pm. This was due, we think to the special offer of dinner for £15. Also we were unable... More

We were making a tour of George Street, and stopped at the brightly decorated Tigerlilly ... which seemed small from the outside but in fact houses a bright modern bar, seating areas and a contemporary restaurant at the back. We had beers and cocktails ... our waitress was a very friendly Aussie, and she recruited a bar man to discuss... More

Visited TigerLily on 16 September in the glorious Edinburgh weather. Great location 5 mins from the train station. In the more trendy side of the city filled with lovely bars and restaurants. The rooms were fab and more chic than the normal larger hotel chains. Little extras such as bathrobes, slippers and shampoos etc. The bars in the hotel were... More

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
