The food was overpriced - portions were average and the food was not of a high quality. Service was friendly but slow. There are much better restaurants in Edinburgh where you can eat for a lot less. (Ate there on a Friday night when 2 courses for £15 offer does not apply.)

Dinner with wife prior to a dance at the Roxburgh. Great fusion food as well as more standard fare should suit all tastes. Service can be a bit slow at busy times and there is a high ambient noise so maybe not the place for a quiet romantic meal! Great modern decor and very well provisioned bar.

Stayed at this bar with business friends. Came across it as it was situated between our hotel (Roxburgh) and the dining restaurant. They offer a wide range of drinks and it has a fancy design. It offers both in- and outside seating

choose to eat here as they had a deal for 2 course meal for £15 and the venue looked really nice. staff are really friendly and the cocktails are perfect. The food however was a disappointment. I ordered the beetroot and goats cheese to start. the ratio of goats cheese to beetroot was off way to much goats cheese although... More

extensive menu that should suit all tastes. The ambiance is good with modern decor. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Chocolate Fondue is a must!

I decided to travel with my partner while he is working in Edinburgh and after hearing rave reviews from friends we decided to book a table for Sunday evening and we were certainly not disappointed. We thoroughly enjoyed our food, my only upset was that I couldn't finish it! As I was so full but it was so good! Our server... More

Booked last minute as had heard of the reviews but wish we hadn't bothered. Service was slow. Portion sizes were tiny. Had the lamb ( tasted ok) ordered mash on the side (bland- can definitely make better at home) For the price, I definitely would have expected better. I had originally hoped to book this place for my boyfriend's birthday... More

Came for a meal with colleagues and had a lovely time. The whole place is gorgeous to look at. The staff are attentive, but not overly so, and the waiter managed to get exactly the right balance of being helpful without fussing. The food was delightful. It looks good on the plate, but also tastes delicious. We were not rushed... More

I have been there twice with friends. Ths staff is quite slow to serve cocktails, but those they prepare are exquisite. The atmosphere is friendly and the decoration very cosy. The place to be on weekends.

The surroundings are lovely , the booths have an open feel yet you retain your privacy from next table. The staff were friendly and attentive however the food is terrible. Server mixed up rare and well done steak, food was tepid at best and very small portions. Great place for drinks but not if you want great food.

Thank bonjen3

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
