At lunchtime there is a 3 course lunch deal for £11.50. To start I got the chicken satay and spring rolls. The portion size was excellent and it was beautifully presented and cooked. For main I had the prawn red thai curry. It was very nice and the prawns were of excellent quality. For dessert you don't get a choice,... More

The restaurant is very conveniently positioned for the main theatres in Edinburgh and appears to get very busy and I can understand why, the staff are very friendly the service is all you would get as if you were in Thailand the food is authentic Thai, my partner and I enjoyed everything we had, we look forward to returning to... The restaurant was lovely and the staff attentive. Sadly the food was average and far to salty. It left an unpleasant after taste in my mouth and my husband felt a unwell after his duck dish. There are much better Thai restaurants in Edinburgh. I would give Spirt of Thai a 6/10.

Went on a weeknight but we were the last to get a table at 1900 as the before Theater crowd goes there before the show across the street. Authentic Thai food. Adequate service.

We popped in on the off chance prior to a Fringe show and I'm so glad we did. It's a lovely restaurant with interesting décor, super friendly service and magnificent food. My wife is a big fan of Thai green curries and declared hers as the best she had ever had - praise indeed.

Great spicy flavours and lovely staff but beef very poor quality. Really chewy and grissly. They kindly changed it for chicken but it was very wet poor quality chicken. Sorry I wouldn't return.

Excellent Thai food in the centre of Edinburgh. The restaurant is clean and tidy, the staff are attentive without being overly so which helps the experience. If you love Thai food and are in the city centre - go here.

A small restaurant with big food. This was my second visit in as many weeks. Staff are very polite and attentive. Food varied and very well presented. More importantly, the four dishes we had were thoroughly delicious and enjoyed to the very last drop. Highly recommended especially for a pre theatre dinner.

Thank Colin M

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
