Found this cozy café very spontaneously after a hike from "Arthur's Seat"....needed a coffee & a treat to get some energy back:') Both were very delicious...I can highly recommend it and the place has a very calming & inspiring atmosphere...a place where you forget time......and that's always a good sign! :)More

I ordered the same breakfast every morning for a few days ( because it was amazing ) and each day it was a different amount. I understand, I had a meal with a substitution so price may not be set, but on the last price...jumped up 40% higher. I stated what I had been paying and received a curt answer, this woman who was the manager or owner was not willing to listen. So I payed for a portion of food I did not recieve. Others have received this same treatment at Red Kite. The food in incredible, so it the wait staff, the scones are additive. I only order take away now, no substitutions and when the price changes I show them receipts from the same order days before, which I resent having to do.More

Visited the cafe with my two daughters, one will be staying on to study abroad at UOE. My first time in Scotland & did not not know what to expect food wise. The Red Kite did not disappoint. There was a small wait as the...place was busy. We were there on a Sunday mid morning & had an excellent brunch. We chose the first 3 items on the menu. My daughter had vegan selection, with veggie Haggis. Other daughter had overnight oats. Lovely with broiled apricots. I had a hearty dish of eggs, sausage, bacon & baked beans & toast. Great coffee as well: lattes all around. A wonderful start to our busy day of sightseeing, as we were headed to Holyrood. I highly recommend the place. Service with a smile & clean facilities.More

Went here for breakfast each morning during our recent trip to Edinburgh - Fantastic independent café on Cadzow Place. The staff are really friendly, and it has a really warm atmosphere, with locals, students and tourists all obviously enjoying its great menu, teas, coffees and...cakes. The breakfast brioche buns are excellent as are the savoury scones, and the menu is full of interesting and tasty breakfast/brunch ideas Back in London now and missing my Flat White and Bacon & Egg Brioche bun, will have to revisit soon.More

We were impressed with the menu for breakfast and we had problems choosing as there were so many on the list that sounded good. The homemade granola and the porridge were both first class, and we will be back.

Stopped here for breakfast on our last morning in Edinburgh. Nice airy and light space to eat in with local artists displaying on the walls. Food looked and tasted delicious as did the tea and coffee. We appreciated the attention to detail all round. My...roasted pear on whipped feta was very tasty and would highly recommend for a treat. The loose leaf tea was the best we tasted in Edinburgh. We took away savoury and sweet scones and a sausage roll for our journey, all of which were full of flavour too. Wish this place was on our doorstep, lucky locals!More

The best thing about this place is the space. The room is large, with a variety of seating, from stools at the window to communal tables to separate ones. Interesting mixed crowd. You can see it is a popular local spot. The coffee is just...OK, but certainly not great as some write. The food is also just OK. The polenta cake breakfast dish is light-handed, with lots of vegetables (red cabbage, tomato, pico de gallo...). It just seems a little expensive to me for the very basic thing it is - for nine pounds you can find far more interesting (and also more filling) dishes in town. Service was friendly and efficient, by dynamic young guys.More

Fronted by husband and wife duo Red Kite is a favourite of mine. I go for their coffee which is consistently great and on occasion a light bite or breakfast brioche roll - these are a real treat. They always have a good selection of...cakes and home made ice cream. Good internet connection too and laptop friendly in quieter times, often tranquil between busier spells and weekends where there can be a wait for tables. They also support local artists by displaying art of featured artists with prints for sale too.More

A really good experience and such fun. In Edinburgh good coffee is easy to find but this place was particularly good. The scones are amazing and the Victoria Sponge Cake magnificent - if rather big so the calorie hit was rather dramatic. Red Kite is...situated in an interesting part of Edinburgh and is well worth the journeyMore

The Red Kite Cafe is one of my favourite coffee shops. The staff are great and friendly and I absolutely love their coffees whether it's a cappuccino or a mocha which are absolutely delicious. Only fault I will say about the Red Kite is that...their food looks amazing. Only catch with it is that the food is not covered up and in these times you want to avoid people's germs especially during a pandemic. They have the most amazing looking Quiches which I'd love to try but with them being out in the open and not covered up I'm not taking any chances especially when people are coughing, sneezing and fly's flying about which is a pity. Apart from that I wouldn't fault the place.More

The Red Kite is my favourite cafe to go to when I visit Edinburgh. It's so light and airy and spacious and they do the best coffee. There's always a delicious cake to tempt me (their blondies are a firm fave) and I recently had...an egg roll for breakfast - their brioche buns are incredible. Th staff are always friendly and up for a wee chat too.More

Visted this cafe for lunch on my 60th birthday. We ordered a tea, Fritata and a bouillabaisse. My tea arrived as did the Fritata. No sign of my dish. After about 20 minutes my wife asked a waitress if it was delayed. She said it...hadn't been ordered but they could prepare it now. By this stage I had lost patience and asked her not to bother. My wife finished her Fritata and went to pay. The original waiter said that will be £22. My queried this as being excessive and he said no that's for the bouillabaisse too. But we haven't had it, he said it's being prepared now. So they are not efficient enough to prepare an original order, but happy to charge for it. By this stage I had walked out of the door. I won't be going back!More
