This is the biggest and best tastie I have ever had and I would certainly recommend this little cafe,

Myself and my girlfriend's family came across this small Cafe on New Year's day as we sought a location to fill our stomachs before taking a walk up Arthurs Seat. I was more hungry than anything and went with the flow, but was pleasantly surprised...by the place. The small selection of magazines and crafts around the Cafe was really interesting. So much so, I ordered a magazine displayed and received a rather welcoming thank you from the author. For breakfast, I chose the scrambled eggs and goats cheese on toast which was delicious. Incredibly hot and really satisfying. Well done to this Cafe, it's a pleasure to stumble across it and support a little gem like this.More

So impressed by CGS - a lovely little gem of a place. Great coffee and pastries along with other, more substantial things to eat in a chilled, laid back setting. And a really special selection of local crafts and gifts to browse. Highly recommended.

I visit this wonderful cafe whenever I'm in this part of the city. The coffee is excellent and there is always a choice of cakes with a good vegan selection. They also serve light lunches. The service is warm and friendly. Highly recommended.

Tasty, interesting and original combinations of veg sandwiches with or without cheese served with coffee or tea; this is the best place to have your breakfast. Also the staff is very friendly and if you want you can buy a little souvenir like a book,...a plant, a cup, a handmade soap etc as they support small business.More

I went for breakfast and I liked it very much because I felt like home! Nice breakfast with vegetables and salad and tasty sweets!

I had coffee and cake while waiting for a Calligraphy course which was taking place in their upstairs room. It was super busy at lunch time but I managed to get a bar stool at the window. (The foot rests were missing on them so...perhaps get these fixed but that’s my only criticism). Coffee and cranachan cake were lovely. It’s dog friendly which might not appeal to everyone and a bit of a squeeze to get to the counter but still very nice vibe. Toilets are upstairs but not sure if there’s any on the cafe level. There’s kitchenware, stationery, plants etc for sale too. I walked from Waverley which took me approximately 20 mintues and walked back the other way, by Leith Walk which took around the same time.More

First hours in Edinburgh and everything went perfect! Very cozy place, nice decoration and good vibes. Good prices, very tasty food and nice coffee and friendly staff. Got for myself the french toast with yogurt and a cappuccino. Very happy with my visit !

Nice friendly café with good range of drinks, cakes and pastries. Staff very accomadating and attentive. Latte was decent and flat white was very acceptable. Salted caramel cake was like a good gingerbread - but with caramel not ginger. Sat outside as it was a...beautiful morning. Will definitely go there again.More

Very nice cafe for breakfast, lunch of coffee break. Good service and nice staff. Right next to Carlton hill. Quiet with nice atmosphere and local bits and bobs for sale too.

Having lived nearby the Century General Store for a year and a half I finally got round to trying it out with my brother earlier this week! Inside it is very cozy and charming. We both ordered an oat milk chai latte. I am gluten...intolerant and they had 2 cake options available for me at the counter - gluten free salted caramel brownies and vegan/gf chocolate raspberry and coconut truffle balls. I ordered one of the truffle balls and my brother ordered the avocado on toast. The chai lattes were excellent and we both agreed the best we had had. My truffle ball was also very good and my brother really enjoyed his avocado on toast (came on sour dough bread with a sort of tomato and onion salsa on the side.) Although they had the gf/vegan etc options signposted at the cakes at the counter, the menu didn't seem to say either way if the brunch options such as avocado on toast or eggs on toast etc were available as gluten free. It would be good to make this clear either way! All in all, we both loved our visit here and thoroughly enjoyed our food and lattes. The service was also very good with the man serving being friendly and efficient. Will definitely be returning!More

Tea was delicious and brunch was filing and beautifully plated! A great stop here in Edinburgh. We were lucky to walk upon this gem of a shop.

The food is delicious, the level of taste is not to be asked it must be delicious. Okay place, average price for restaurant class. The choice of coffee is very much and delicious.
