This is a gem not to miss when in Edinburgh! Went with family for a Thursday get together, and had a delicious dinner. The menu and food is very French, so we'll cooked an delicious, from.the escargots to the chocolate dessert, and the service is perfect, with a smile for everyone. Highly recommended, and we will back soon!

Well seasoned, delicious Haggis balls, Posh Mac and Cheese (macaroni and cheese with wild mushrooms and truffle) and today's fish (sea beam) for the parents and chicken and fries for the 5 year old. Creme Brulé and 2 x caramel spunge with ice cream. Accompanied by a bottle of 2015 Rossi Passori from Veneto for the grown ups. This will... More

Having visited this restaurant several times we were disappointed with our lunch on this occasion. Usually the food is tasty and flavours are appealing. However this was not the case when we were there for the Festival. Maybe that was the reason... We had our second choice as the supplier had not appeared with the meat for our preferred meal.... Saturday night dining near Edinburgh's Grassmarket. Crowds of people, even on a chill but otherwise nondescript Saturday night, looking for a meal. Reservations are essential. And we had one, for 7 PM at Maison Bleue. Arriving at 6:50 we were seated immediately at an intimate little table for two at the window overlooking the street. Service impeccable from beginning to... Very polite, and excellent service, with good food. We had Chateabriand steak, fried calamari, camembert fondue, and tasty augergine among others. A beautiful place, situated in a heart of restaurants and pubs. Definitely going back. Thank you.

Edinburgh must have fifty really good restaurants, and Masion Blu is right there with the rest. First, there are two small dining rooms downstairs and then additional tables up a series of stairs. Try to get one by a window. The meal started off great. I had the fondue and my wife had the goat cheese. Both were great! For... More

I usually absolutely love this place and look forward to dining here but sadly the stuffed peppers (for both myself and friend) were just a little under-cooked and the food was only warm-ish. Very very sadly I don't think I'll be back.

On first entering Maison Bleue, I thought it was going to be quite pretentious, but it was far from it. We were welcomed by the front of house who found us a table without a reservation. We were seated upstairs and our waiter was on hand to go over his recommendations, he also paired the wine perfectly. Everything about the... More

This place is an absolute gem. Quirky and interesting interior and the food was absolutely delicious and decently priced. The staff were very attentive and I felt I could easily get their attention whenever I needed without it feeling as though they were intrusive (which can be the case in a lot of restaurants where it feels as though the... Short trip to Edinburgh and visited MaIson Bleue for dinner. A lovely restaurant with a lovely atmosphere and attentive, friendly staff. We both chose the haggis balls for starters which were delicious. We both had ribeye steak which was very good. We had a bottle of red wine from Morocco which was very good. Well worth a visit.

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
