We were walking past and liked the look of the decor, so went in. We were greeted immediately in a friendly but not oppressive way and taken to a table swiftly. This was the style of service throughout, attentive but low key. Our children had chicken wrapped in Palma ham with mashed potato, and we had the fish - a... More

We had the fixed price lunch. Excellent blend of traditional and colonial French. Steak Frites was a large portion and the Moroccan fish stew delicately spiced

I had a good welcome , friendly staff , they made me feel comfortable , we ordered 2 main course, take over 20 minutes to received . The food was just average , nothing special , I had better quality in a local pub.

My partner and I first dined at Maison Bleue in January for a friends birthday and fell in love. The menu was very expansive and caters for all tastes. The lunch menu is also excellent and very affordable and the portions are huge. The staff are very attentive and the décor is very nice. Overall a very nice atmosphere and... More

Visited with friends last week for the first time and despite it being 80 miles from me I will definitely be back. The food is outstanding to say the least, ambience a delight and brilliant service too. Meal for 4 with 2 decent bottles of Moroccan wine only 140 quid.

Found this place strolling around on a Friday evening.....was surprised to get in without a booking (always a worry!). BUT.....Atmosphere was great, attentive service and food was cracking. It's not Michelin star food - but it's good wholesome, delicious fare at a good price. Tagine main was a revelation. Highly recommend.

Three of us got a last minute table for a Saturday night meal. The waiter was very surly, providing minimal chat and seemed almost bored running through the specials, as if it was a waste of his time. The food was tasty though, the beef cheeks in particular. However the overall meal was pretty expensive compared to other places in... More

This is was our second visit to maison bleue. Thought as wev hadnt been for a good while, would give it another try. We visited on sunday for a late lunch, it was very quiet, so got a table no bother. The price for 2 or 3 courses is excellent value. Chicken and salmon were delicious. Definately worth a visit... Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
